    About the Business

We specialize in seafood and soups and each week have unique feature plates that are full of flavor and prepared with a passion for providing only the finest unique dinner plates in Akron Ohio. We purchase most of our meats, vegetables, and spices from local farms and gardens. We even grow some of our own herbs, spices and tomatoes. When it comes to seafood, we seek out the freshest available. Weekly we have special features plates with fish that is flown in, (overnight) fresh from all over the world. We don't overstock and don't have a lot of storage so most of our features are only available while they last and they usually don't last long. Another one of our specialties is the smoker. Chef Glenn Gillespie is a master when it comes to smoking meats and seafood. The smoker is at the restaurant and all of our smoking is done on site. Our desserts are homemade. We have several places locally that make our desserts and many of them are 100% organic ingredients.…

We had our office party at Edgar's last night and were blown away by the outstanding service and food!
Ben, our waiter, went all out in making sure we had a great experience. Sarah was great and kept the experience fun and upbeat!
The menu is full of options you won't see anywhere else.
I don't eat seafood so I was skeptical after reading the menu that I would enjoy going there. I was wrong!

Everything we tasted was amazing! The prime rib was delicious. The meats have the most flavorful smoky flavor from the outdoor smokers. They adjusted my shrimp quesadilla and substituted chicken, which would be an unusual request, but no one even batted an eye and it turned out to be one of the best chicken quesadillas I have ever had!

I chose the BBQ ribs and they were absolutely outstanding. I also loved the wedge salad with house made white French dressing.

Bonus: Got to meet the owner /chef and he was humble and friendly.

Five stars for sure and we'll be back for more of those amazing cocktails!!

I visit Akron often to hang with my brother. He picked this place because it is a go to for a neural friend. She is vegetarian and gets the veggie past dish - huge portions! Huge! So let's go...

Prices are decent for the portion sizes, come on they are huge. Pasta, ribs and chicken dishes are the winners. The side veggie egg rolls not so much. Don't order them if you are expecting $15 egg rolls because that is not what you will get. The bread is fresh and warm, so good! The oil dipping sauce is tasty as well. The service was great, very attentive. The mixed cocktails were excellent.

When you think golf course, you have to remember this is Akron and this place is on the edge of a neighborhood. It was nice enough for the enjoyable dinner we had for decent prices. Again the service was on point and the cocktails rocked. Bonus for having vegetarian options. I look forward to returning and enjoying the patio that over looks the golf course. They also set up a few weekly events so be prepared to see an artist preform on a random night.

My wife took me here for my Birthday. When she looked it up it said Fine Dining. Now, we already live in a golf club community and surprisingly found this establishment tied to a public golf course.
As we walked in, we saw standard bbq grills on a side porch. The entry way took us pass a bar area with men in football Jersey attire. We went into the "dining" area that was literally empty.
We were sat in a booth with silverware wrapped in paper napkins. ( Fine Dining) We then waited for about 10 minutes until a young lady asked us if we have been waited on yet. We replied no. She took our drink order. In about 8 more minutes a male server dressed like a patron sitting at the bar came over to take our drink order. We told him that we already placed our order. He returned with our water's and provided a " bendy" straw. ( Fine Dining) He also returned with my beer. Yes, a beer bottle and no frosty glass. In fact, no glass. (Fine Dining)
Our salads came in a bowl that you can tell have been pre prepared in sitting in an ice cold refrigerator and was accompanied with a pre-packed salad dressing container. (Fine Dining)
Our appetizers came pretty quick. The fried green tomatoes tasted like that were frozen then fried and not an item that I would suggest you choose. The bbq rib tips were not bad and plentiful. 2 minutes after we received our appetizers our main course arrived which really sucked.
The server came to my wife offering hot sauce. She declined. I omitted that he offered hot sauce packets. ( Fine Dining) The main entrees we're just okay, but the expectations could have potentially met if the establishment listed their business as casual food fare and not (Fine Dining).
For SAG I order cheesecake to go and the server had no idea if it was available or not. It was and it was just okay.
I wouldn't recommend for anything other than just a basic place to go to.

      Oh, I forgot.
Why were the collard greens so salty?

So salty, you couldn't even make a second attempt.
So if you need bendy straws, this is your spot.
      lol

Had a great experience yesterday for sure
We're from California, the friendly part where people are mostly still grateful.

I've never been to Ohio and was grateful to check out Akron for sure. The place is beautiful and the food was good

Especially Edgar's next to the golf course. The vibe was good as soon as we walked in. We sat out on the balcony with a nice view. The staff was all friendly, we encountered about 4-5 staff not including our server. They all had a good attitude and seemed happy to be there.

I feel like our servers name was Danika (I could be wrong, spelling may be off all apologies if so)

So was delightful, helpful, smiling and helped our overall experience in a positive way.

She was on it from drinks, to bread, to salads coming out quick to paying attention to our orders and getting everything correct. You could tell she's done this for a while. Very attentive and made sure to bring extra napkins, drinks refilled, quality check ins to make sure we were good (I appreciate good service, and recognize it when it happens) it happened for sure at Edgar's

She had a team around her as well who were on point to create an overall positive experience

The food was good. I had the ribs with skillet potatoes, my wife and our friend both got a burger and both said it was good. My other fiend got a fish Sandwhich. I want to say walleyed fish. The bread and oil you dip
It in was like no other. The blue cheese dressing is for sure homemade and really good.

This was one of the best meals we've had so far in the last 3 days. I would highly recommend and go back again

      When
Your traveling from out of state ? Doesn't matter from where. You always enjoy being treated well and taken care of. Good job to our server (seriously..thank you)

Good job to the manager who sets the tone, you've got a great team

We're grateful from California Mike S

Atmosphere: They place is very nice and welcoming on the inside. It was a little hard to tell what it was from the outside because I think it's apart of a golf club or something. But I loved the lighting and the view out our booth was very nice. I can not say nicer things about our waitress. She knew we hadn't been there before so she went through the whole menu with us, picked out my wife's drink based on a number of questions she asked her which was pretty fun. Ended up with an espresso martini and it was probably the best martini either of us had. She had 2. She also recommended an excellent wine for me. Gosh I wish I could remember her name.

Food: for appetizers, we had gotten the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp cocktail. The fried green tomatoes were not only a beautiful presentation but my wife absolutely loved them and devoured every bit with no pause (I got the shrimp cocktail cause I don't like tomatoes). The shrimp cocktail was also very delicious and very fresh. But that cocktail sauce. It's a lot spicier than any others I've had and that kick was so perfect! Best cocktail sauce ever.
I was VERY disappointed that they didn't have jerk wings done on the smoker because that's what I was eyeing the whole time. I settled with the Edgar burger. I mean... it wasn't bad but it was just a burger. Cooked to my liking (medium) but just a normal burger you could get anywhere. When you got jerk wings on the mind, a not-so-flavorful burger doesn't slap the same way. I talked my wife into trying something new that night which is why we went to Edgar's, so she could try gumbo for the first time. I truly thought she would love some New Orleans style food. Wrong. It was beautiful but she hated the flavor. I however, thought all the staple ingredients and flavors were perfect. She ate the rest of my burger and I took the gumbo home.
We ordered two desserts to take home and enjoy but right before we left, our waitress comes up to us and congratulates us on our new marriage and what does she do? SHE GIVES ME A TAKE HOME BOX OF JERK WINGS!!! Be still my beating heart. They were delicious! (I ate one on the way home) soooo fresh. Later that night we tried the lemon cheesecake and I have literally not been able to stop talking about it since. We WILL be back. Those jerk wings were life. And our waitress was a textbook example of the perfect waitress. Good job Edgar's! Can't wait to come back

Never again. First of all the rating is based on a combination of husband's meal and mine. His was a five, mine was a zero. He had ribs, potatoes and salad and said all were declicious. I ordered frog legs and jicama slaw. They now bread the frog legs and they were terrible. Too much breading, too much seasoning. Awful. The waitress didn't bother to tell me they were out of the jicama slaw and they served regular slaw. I didn't want regular slaw and would have changed my order if I had known. The only good part of the meal was the bread. The waitress was really scarce. Took our order and disappeared. Reappeared when I sent back 90% of my dinner and brought a dessert to make up for it. If the meal was awful why would I ever think their dessert would be better? We live on the other side of town and we had to make a special trip to eat there. Never, ever again.

      Dear Yelpers,

Yikes...I mean if you just came off the golf course and want to over pay for mediocre bar food, well then Edgar's might be ok. I had the "tacos" that were just snack wraps. Honestly, McDonald's might have been better. I also got the Mac and cheese bites. Or should I say fried air bites with cheese flavoring. Do not recommend. My wife said the chicken Philly was serviceable (came with Au Jus sauce for some reason...). Overall, just golf and leave. Even the drinks were pretty bad. And don't get me started on the DJ that blew my eardrums out. Couldn't even hear across the table it was so loud

Hidden gem of a restaurant. The food was outstanding. I had the smoked prime rib dinner and I would definitely get it again. My mom had the smoked bbq ribs and they also looked amazing. The service was great and the drinks were generous.
