Being a product of his environment in East Memphis, Sleepy Loco was inspired to start his rap career from his Uncle Mook. After that, the Lifted Life CEO dealt with the passing of uncle, he later took that time to link with one of the South’s most respected DJs, DJ Coop (Lil Duval’s DJ) and also Dj TK, with his debut mixtape Blu Language, 2016. He followed up that with his single “Regular”, which gathered placements on mixtapes and mix shows, including K97. Despite the momentum, Loco continued to grind, performing his single and creating relationships with the well respected Strange Lady, Dj El Plaga of The Dope Academy and Ulua (his cameraman).
Sleepy later released “For The Time Being”, as he and Ulua would release visuals captivating his laid back cool persona. He rolled out songs such as “In & Out” which separated him from a lot of his peers in the city with his double entendre flow. After promoting his latest project, he would later link up with Sauce Walka’s own producer Quad Woofer on “Bag Today”, “Early Christmas” with Australian producer “Sauron”. These records garnered attention from the surrounding Djs and industry tastemakers. This would later present opportunities for him performing at events such as Speakerboxx, sharing the same stage with CMG artist, Big Boogie.
Fast forward, Loco recorded more records with platinum selling producer Blame Swagg, who blessed him with “No Deal”, “Free The Real” featuring Bread Gang’s own TripStar and “Blunt To My Lip” with QC’s own Duke Deuce.
As of 2022, the East Memphis native has hit the streets with his own merch and models. With a structured team to go along with his 15+ city “No Deal Tour” with the Core Djs, Shade 45 and he also linked with ATLs own Dj Calvin. As of 2022, Sleepy has managed to make his presence felt from the dirty south to the west coast. This is just the beginning of the year, so don’t be surprised when “Sleepy Loco” is a household name because he doesn’t plan on stopping.
