“There is always something to do. There are hungry people to feed, naked people to clothe, sick people to comfort and make well. And while I don’t expect you to save the world I do think it’s not asking too much for you to love those with whom you sleep, share the happiness of those whom you call friend, engage those among you who are visionary and remove from your life those who offer you depression, despair and disrespect.” ~ Nikki Giovanni
As you can tell from my list I am on a mission. One that I settled into after my son Malachi Hashim Aasim Dennis was murdered on April 26, 2017. In a matter of mere moments, that person’s actions stole so much from me and my family, leaving us devastated.
On my journey back from that accursed hell, I learned a lot.
Traumatic Violence destroys more lives than the ones directly affected.
The only thing we have any control over is our responses to the cards life deals.
Mental health has to be at the forefront of every conversation that relates to violent behavior.
Overall wellness plays a crucial role in not only the health of our bodies but also our ability to interact with our loved ones and extended family/community.
We are responsible for getting our communities in order. It’s going to take an enormous amount of love and hard work to see progress. No one else can give the people that have been devastated by what is going on in the streets more compassion than someone who knows their pain and has a vested interest.
So that is why I am here to fight for our Human Rights to be safe and happy.
Join me on this healing journey.
Kindest Regards,
Ronda “Aniysa” Harris
