Puerto Rico Connect Volunteer Form
Sofrito Media Group, Inc  announced late 2017 that we will be launching a new web property by July 1st, 2018 called Puerto Rico Connect. This site is meant to  bridge the information gap between the Puerto Rican Diaspora and the people who currently reside on the island during the rebuild process. The project will be led by George Torres (SMG) with a select team of volunteers and content creators.

Features of the site will include the following;

- Daily updates with news from verified sources concerning all aspects of Puerto Rico.
- Blog Posts by community reporters on the ground, keeping us informed of progress on the island.
- Community Directory of organization providing aid to the island identifying who is providing direct aid.
- Small business spotlights and detailed directory of businesses we can support from the main land.
- User generated content submissions that are culturally relevant to Puerto Ricans both aqui y alla.

It will be a place where people can share stories, opinions and initiatives that are reshaping Puerto Rico.

Best of all... we are not done. We want to build this in a way that serves the community by being the #1 resource for all things BORICUA.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone that wants to be a part of something that is actively impacting the island especially if you have not been able to get to the island. This opportunity is remote, meaning you can participate from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet service to submit your work.

We need volunteers to build this site out... the first wave of volunteer positions we are interviewing folks for are as follows.

Here is what we need in round 1.

- Event Curators (PR events across the island and diaspora)
- News curators (factual news about all things PR)
- Writers (short stories, poetry, op ed)
- Bloggers (covering events)
- Vloggers (people who rather influence via video)
- Introductions to organizations to partner with, so that we can build out the directories.

If you have pre existing content that is relevant to this cause, it can be considered for publication.

Then there are some organizational functions we will announce in a second round of volunteers, We will give all first round volunteers the opportunity to move into a different position if they so choose prior to releasing to the public.

All selected volunteers that stay on board through the first 6 months will be recognized as the founding team on a special recognition page that will be a permanent fixture on the website.

This website is completely non partisan and will include all voices as it pertains to the rebuilding of Puerto Rico.
