Audio/Caption
A black, disabled woman was the lowest type of person ever and had no purpose? (Laughs) Yeah, that was the microaggression of choice thrown at me that day., and many others that look like, have to hear this every day. As I heard my oppressor’s voice, my inner voice lay dormant. His words kicked my soul; however, through my faith, my spirit remained intact. Today, I will share with you through performance poetry how I shall respond through words of power and encouragement because his words have no power over my soul. My spirit is free, and the very thing that matters to me is to empower others to use their voice, know their power, speak their truth and show up unapologetically.
