6. Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Gainesville, Va.
Our Locker Room has been recognized in the past as being a Top Locker Room within the Private Golf Club Arena. A 2010 publication had us at No. 2 and just behind Augusta National in this area.
Our locker room is home to four past U.S. Presidents—two of which are still living so you never know if you may run into one in the Locker Room. Our club is widely known as the Home of the Presidents Cup.
Our Locker Room Manager has been here for over 20 years. He without a doubt has the golden touch at making every Member and Guest who enter, feel like they are the most important member of club. He is a big part of the overall RTJ experience members and guests have come to expect. There is no request to big or to small that Ralph Johnson will not go above and beyond to make sure request is fulfilled.
7. Forest Creek Golf Club, Pinehurst, N.C.
In 2002, worked alongside cutting-edge architects to create what is now a nationally-recognized men’s locker room. Inspired by the popular pastime of horseback riding, the building boasts equestrian motifs throughout and is intentionally constructed with reclaimed barn timbers.
Seamlessly integrated into the rustic backdrop of Pinehurst’s pines, the men’s locker room building features over 372 lockers and impressive 22 foot ceilings. This one-of-a-kind, stable-inspired amenity is a true retreat. Plump leather chairs await tired golfers after a round of golf and the fully-stocked bar offers a means of celebration (or consolation).
Forest Creek Golf Club, located minutes away from the Village of Pinehurst, is a private club featuring two 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf courses, extensive golf practice facilities, a welcoming clubhouse, separate Ladies Lounge and locker room building, tennis, fitness, pool facilities, and spectacular views throughout, along with an award-winning men’s locker room facility.
The men’s locker room is a separate building with 22’ ceilings and over 9,000 sq. ft. of space boasting custom-built lockers, roomy dressing areas, state-of-the-art shower, steam and sauna facilities and a luxurious, expansive bar and dining area. It is ideally designed and situated to enhance one of the Pinehurst area’s most desirable golf experiences.
8. Deerwood Golf Club at The Clubs of Kingwood (TX)
Designed by Byron Nelson and brought to life in 1983, the Deerwood Golf Club at The Clubs of Kingwood serves as one of the premier facilities in the ClubCorp portfolio. Hole No. 13, featured in the US Open scenes in the movie Tin Cup, receives recognition every year by the Dallas Morning News as one of 18 Texas golf holes considered to be the toughest in the state.
After an outing on the course, the locker rooms are the perfect place to come home to, with all of the amenities members come to expect. Plenty of private shower space, a 300 Sq. Ft. eucalyptus filled steam room, and a full line-up of Billy Jealousy products provide an opportunity to relax and refresh before heading to their own private lockers.
The Deerwood clubhouse features one of the best restaurants in the area, with seating for 175 patrons. The locker room area seats an additional 100 guests for meals and refreshments, featuring its own full bar and more than spacious dining area. Additionally, the living room-like atmosphere of the locker room has plenty of lounge chairs and more than enough TV’s to catch all the games, news, and golf.
9. The Bridgewater Club, Carmel, Ind.
The Bridgewater Club underwent extensive Club renovations in 2020 and paid close attention to details and amenities that would improve its members’ experience on and off the course. The design firm it consulted with, PARINI Design, helped club leadership to imagine new ways to elevate its members’ experience throughout the entire facility which included its Platinum Locker Rooms and Lounge areas.
Members are thrilled with the transformation and modernization of the renovated locker rooms that encompassed new furniture, mirrors, lighting, carpet, TVs and artwork. The original lockers, which feature custom-engraved nameplates for members, remain pristine and were maintained in the space to create an eclectic mix of traditional fixtures with more contemporary soft seating and decor. The Platinum Locker Rooms are conveniently located within the central area of the club which creates a nice flow to the newly renovated Zinc restaurant and bar and golf shop. The men’s locker room, specifically, has three entry points which include one from the terrace with a premium golf course view.
Both the men’s and women’s Platinum Locker Rooms boast steam rooms and a dual-level layout which provides lounge areas for each of them to enjoy that are comfortable, inviting and flooded with natural light. Food and beverage service is available in both lounge areas and allow members to experience a nice respite or private meeting before or after a round on the Pete Dye designed 18 hole championship and 9 hole executive courses. The club’s connection to the Dye family is seen throughout the lounge area decor where one will find historical books and even photos of Pete and Alice Dye that were provided by the Dye family.
The lounge areas feature chic seating, card tables and even set ups for remote work or special events. Because the lounge space is so expansive, the club’s affiliate groups will host social events and many women enjoy playing games of mahjong, dominos, and bridge while men gather for monthly games of poker.
Since the renovations of the locker rooms, the club also hosts larger special events in the Platinum Locker Rooms and two events of note include the Mother + Daughter Spa Day and the Easter Brunch visit with the Easter Bunny. At the Spa Day, hosted in conjunction with Mother’s Day, mothers, daughters and grandmothers indulged in hair and nail services, yoga, and aromatherapy crafts. Due to the event’s success and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the Spa Day will continue as an annual Mother’s Day celebration. Additionally, this year’s visit with the Easter Bunny was also hosted in the women’s locker room and lounge space with the line queue flowing through the upgraded locker area to create a decorated, maze-like experience for the young children to explore as they enjoyed a space within the Club that is not usually accessible to children.
For added convenience, shoe service is available from the Platinum Locker Rooms and facilities are stocked with premium toiletries. In addition to the Platinum Locker Rooms that cater to the golf experience, the club also has specific locker rooms for the fitness and aquatics centers which feature infrared saunas for both men and women.
10. Richland Pointe Wellness Center, Greensboro, Ga.
The Wellness Center is the core of this new community and is geared to focus on each member’s physical and mental well-being. Incorporated within the wellness center are a spa (with three treatment rooms), locker rooms, fitness zone, restaurant, and two lakeside pools – all surrounded by exceptional lake views and lush vegetation.
The locker rooms reflect the ambience expected in a facility devoted to positive mindset and physical well-being. The décor is highlighted by natural materials, muted earth colors, and soothing finishes, all understated and natural.
Guests enter the space and immediately experience a spa-like environment. The soft lighting, fabric wall coverings, natural stone on walls and counters, set a mood. Located near the men’s and women’s locker rooms is a relaxation zone, where members await spa services (massages, esthetics) or can simply read or meditate. Items from the spa food menu are served in this space, where floor to ceiling windows overlook the outdoor adult pool and cabanas.
On the other side of the wellness center, across the lobby from the locker rooms, sophisticated wellness components are integrated into the lifestyle offerings at the wellness center, including the latest technologies—like Biocircuit from TechnoGym. This 12-station workout is a completely guided, personalized program that delivers an engaging circuit training experience in less time with no adjustments and no need for an instructor. Exercises, workloads, pace, and rest times are calibrated to deliver efficient training programs to fit every type of user.
The wellness center also features two movement studios and an on-site health coach. Additional opportunities for fitness include spin, cardio, yoga, movement, and stretch classes – both indoors and outdoors. A separate building, connected by an open-air courtyard, houses the bar and restaurant.
