TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Police are investigating after several students at New Springs Charter School became sick after eating an unknown candy on Thursday.

The Tampa Police Department (TPD) said employees at the school found a clear cylindrical container with no labels or markings and two pieces of what seemed to be “Nerds” candies. Those candies are legally sold as a Delta-9 THC product in Florida, according to TPD.

A total of 11 kids, all between the ages of nine and 11, reported symptoms of dizziness, nausea, lethargy, and numbness in their legs and arms after eating the candy.

Three of the students were taken to a local hospital for evaluation but no serious injuries were reported in any of the afflicted students.

Police said it is believed one student brought the candy to school and they are working to identify where it came from.
