POZI come steeped in the lineage of the very best weirdo British indie pop with skittish, restless energy, drawing on influences such as Devo, Wire and Television, but without any guitar. Their songs cover a huge range of topics - gambling addiction and debt, the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Chinese human rights, Brexit, smartphone addiction, corrupt police, relationship jealousy and poor mental health provision. They've been championed by Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley and contemporaries like Idles, Squid and Sleaford Mods - yet they still feel like an underground secret, however with their second album out later this year that might not be the case for long.
