Donors for Africa empowers nonprofits with technical expertise

On Friday, December 6th, Donors for Africa Foundation inaugurated 30 nonprofits and impact led businesses
addressing the sustainable development goals into its Social Innovators Boot Camp 2019/2020. This 3 months program will provide technical expertise to selected organizations to help them address their organizational difficulties, so they can access funds, address the SDG’sand most importantly build long-lasting organizations that address development challenges in Africa.

From over 232 applications received, 30 nonprofits were selected after a rigorous process and will be participating in the 12 weeks training.

They will pitch for funding after the 3 months period in a pitch fest and prizes will be awarded to 3 winners.

The founder Chidi Koldsweat stated that ‘’for Africa to experience long term development especially in achieving the SDGs, we must empower social innovators and development leaders driving change at the community level with the technical expertise they need to implement their work successfully’’.

The keynote speaker Detoun Ogwo, Executive Director, Skills Development Organization reiterated the importance of honing individual organization’s capacity to implement their work more efficiently.

Mr Steve Harris, Business Accelerator also stressed the need for nonprofits to run their organizations like businesses putting the right structures in place so they can build for long-lasting impact.
