Bio

Hailing from the infamous Raglan, NZ surftown music and party scene, CAT & KING is a collaborative DJ + MC live show act by lyricist/vocalist Jinja Cat and beat mixologist King Macka.

Drawing selections and influences from UK breakbeat & basswise genres, aswell as Caribbean reggae and carnival soundsystem cultures, CAT & KING bring exciting, energetic rhythms, heavyweight basslines and dynamic lyricism to the stage.

From run-on-the-spot jungle nutter to grimey-get low-grind energy. Funked up percussive to moodily dramatical.  CAT & KING serve up lively sets showcasing hot n spicy mixes and crafted refixes, dripping with emcee host finesse and voicing switch ups from spitfire bars to melodic and poetic dubby dimensions, rubadub to jazzmatical.

With their inimitable blend of yin-yang synergy, fun presence, and attention to detail in their collaboration, they have well-earned a reputation as being uniquely entertaining and a commanding force at the controls.
