'Turtles All The Way Down' refers to both themes of the universe resting on the back of a giant turtle and the concept of infinite regression when it comes to explaining the universe. Within the context of a larger work titled 'Sacrifice, An Act Of Permanence', the turtle stack appears with each turtle's shell created from a Mandelbulb - a type of three-dimensional fractal. The problem of regression collapses from the two-dimensional space of myth to the three-dimensional space of the Mandelbulb and even further into four-dimensional space over time. The transference of information over time is at the heart of how we perceive our universe to exist. The fractures are a celebration of this, while acknowledging the leap of faith and imagination required to jump beyond our perceivable world into the imagined, but no less real, realms of mathematics, quantum physics and metaphysics. The fractures are a comforting totem of transience and reassurance.
