​Green Cay Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 12800 Hagen Ranch Road, west of Boynton Beach. For more information on Green Cay Nature Center and other county-operated nature centers, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by online reservation only unless otherwise stated. Please register online at www.pbcparks.com; under “Online Services" click on Register/Pay for Program, or visit the nature center to register and make payment. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form before each program.

BIRD TALK & TOUR: WETLAND BIRDS
Saturday, January 6, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required, limit 20)

Start the day off with a Florida bird presentation followed by a one-hour birding tour with one of our naturalists. Bring binoculars and your field guide if you have them.

 

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS:
WILDNESS AND THE ART OF SEEING THINGS - A NATURE JOURNAL/ART WORKSHOP

Nature journaling is the act of recording your experiences on this planet- your observations, perceptions, questions, facts, phenomena, in art, in words, in numbers. In exploring both our outer and inner worlds, artist/naturalist Autumn Kioti Horne helps participants cultivate the art of truly seeing things in nature, fostering a forever link between human and the non-human entities with whom we share our world. Warning! Nature journaling is addictive!

 

REPTILES & AMPHIBIANS: SENSATIONAL SNAKES

Join a naturalist as we learn about Florida's reptiles and amphibians followed by a guided tour.

 

ARCHERY 101
Saturday, January 20, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 9+, $10/participant (Reservations required, limit 12)

Join a USA Archery Certified Instructor to learn the basics of archery and develop a fun new skill! This 1.5-hour program will start with a demonstration followed by target practice! All equipment provided, please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and sun protection as it takes place outdoors.

 

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: GREEN SPACE WELLNESS TALK & TOUR
Friday, January 26, 1:00 p.m.
Ages 50+, $5/participant (Reservations required, limit 50)

Classroom wellness presentation with practice of relaxation techniques. Followed by practical application on a short boardwalk guided nature connection tour.

 

NIGHT STALKERS
Wednesday, January 31, 6:00 p.m.
Ages 9+, $5/participant (Reservations required, limit 20)

Join a naturalist on a nighttime boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents. Flashlights are recommended, but not required.
