Isaac Renato Gutierrez (born July 27th, 1997) professionally known as .irg, is an American singer, producer and songwriter. He is best known for his songs "new jersey" and "pick up the phone", and has accumulated over 400 thousand streams on Spotify.[1] In 2018, his song titled "praying for u", was met with editorial playlist success on ‘'Listen Local: New York City'’ and garnered 23,000 streams on Spotify.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania,[2].irg was raised in a musical household with his parents and younger brother. While a student at Hempfield High School, he began writing poetry and lyrics in his bedroom. After graduating high school, he attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he then transferred to Lancaster Bible College of Pennsylvania[3] and graduated in 2020 with a degree in Communications/Marketing. Before making music full-time, Gutierrez worked an assortment of jobs including an egg packer, daycare provider, soccer referee, and eventually the Director of Communications at Reality Church of Lancaster at the age of 22.[4]

Career[edit]

In March 2018, .irg released "bittersweet", the oldest track available on streaming platforms.[5] He released his 7th studio single "pick up the phone" in February 2019 which was his first record to gain traction and recognition. In April 2019, .irg released his debut EP "bittersweet memories", featuring Tim Carlberg, Jaej, Moon Dog, Charles Infamous, and Leafygreen which is now only available on SoundCloud.[6] Isaac later released the single "new jersey"” in June 2019,[7] which is currently his most-streamed track at 227,000 streams.[8] Gutierrez released the EP "153 miles"[9][10] featuring Christian Currence, KZ, Zatchr, Scotty Z, Narrowhaven and Cynosure in November 2019, followed by the album "too much to type", in July 2020.[11] "too much to type" is a response to the way .irg felt after graduating college in May 2020 and not knowing what God had in store for him for the future. Christian Currence and Narrowhaven also made an appearance on the album. Gutierrez released "it gets to me", the lead single from his debut album on June 19th, 2020. The second single from the album, “panic attacks", was released shortly after on July 10th, 2020. The album was released on July 31st, 2020.[12] The album is an collection of songs that were recorded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania during the first half of 2020. irg‘s first 2 studio singles "south africa" and "frzn", have since been deleted from all platforms.

Influences[edit]

Gutierrez has noted Jeremy Zucker and Jon Bellion are among some of his biggest inspirations.[13] His music is described “As you approach that setting sun, it’s warm rays wrap around your body, with this you come to find yourself guided by the tainted but angelic vocals of .irg who goes on to deliver to you heartfelt lyrics. Eventually though your embracing of each almost volatile verse you come to find yourself exposed to the richly textured harmony and moving melodies that whisk you far away into the brilliance of .irg”.
