Talk Of The Town: Charnita Horton Behind The Scenes

Reality versus “Reality TV” should be one in the same, but sometimes we watch the shows but don’t seem to get the entire picture. Charnita Horton is here and changing the way the world views reality and she’s bringing her family along for the ride. When the newest queen of reality Melody Shari says it’s go time, then it’s go time and Charnita is taking her chance and opening up and here’s just what we’re in store for.

FEMI Magazine (Mo Clark): First of all congrats on your past endeavors, your present endeavors, and your future endeavors. A lot of times we as women are told, “you can’t have it all” or “just focus on one thing”. How do you feel you have been able to navigate through that?

CHARNITA:  I believe every woman should achieve their success and fulfillment in all areas of life. Including their career, family, relationships, personal development, and leisure. I believe you should not let life stop you from being great and reaching your goals! You can have exactly what you want if you work hard at it!

FEMI: So often we hear, “it takes a village to raise a child”. I’ve quickly found that it takes a village for EVERYTHING. How has your support system been while you’ve been going through your journey of entrepreneurship?

CHARNITA: “It takes a village to raise a child” is a proverb that means that an entire community of people must provide for and interact positively with children for those children to experience and grow in in a safe and healthy environment. My kids are close to my husband and my family! I also have a house manager that helps me! We are busy and everyone pitches in to help us! I definitely live by that saying, children do need a ton of guidance at their age.

FEMI: You have your new show coming out and we can imagine that you’re over the moon excited. Who wouldn’t be? Tell us how did you come to know Melody Shari and how did this new venture spring forward?

CHARNITA: Melody Shari is an awesome entrepreneur! I actually got connected with her manager through my house manager! I was venting to Morgan that I feel I should be further along… She told me she could make a call. And that call changed my life. My dream was happening within 3 days! Melody is doing major things and I admire that.

FEMI: Reality TV has definitely broken barriers and created more brand awareness for business owners and other entrepreneurs. How do you feel this will affect your life as well as your family?

CHARNITA:  I believe my reality show is going to make my brand speak volumes and also bring awareness to my business. I am a transparent person and I open my world to help other people see my mistakes and achievements. My reality show is solution-based, and because of how I live my life transparently, I don’t think this will be a huge lifestyle change for us, but I am looking forward to seeing how the show changes our routine.

FEMI: I think most women have heard, “she thinks she’s all that” a time or two and like they say, “if you don’t have any haters, you’re not doing it right”. What do you think is one of the main misconceptions about Charnita and will that be addressed on your show?

CHARNITA: Charnita is boujee!! I am all the way boujee!! Ha! I have worked hard and, like I said, I think women deserve to have it all – and so do l! Yes, there are many that don’t understand me, but there are so many that do! And Those are the women I’m hoping to empower!

FEMI: The word wealth means different things to different people. What would you say wealth means for you?

CHARNITA: Wealth is comfortability! Children having generational wealth! In short, having money is a security net, and it removes that worry from my life.

FEMI: We have your businesses and now the show. What other things can we expect from you Charnita?

CHARNITA: Right now I am looking to start selling products, in addition to my services which are already available through CharnitasWorld. I’m also expanding those services and trying to teach classes sometime soon.

We actually have a ton coming up, right now I am finishing up my most recent book, and I just purchased a building that we are going to use as a production building. This is in Downtown Birmingham, and I’m really looking forward to it!

FEMI: In terms of legacy, what legacy do you want to leave for your family?

CHARNITA: We do this all for our family, we are building these businesses so that we can leave those to them. But along with that, we’re trying to teach them something. We want to show them strength and dedication and what it takes to be a professional.

It’s always exciting to see our women thriving and paving the way. People scream their doing things for the culture a lot now. The most exhilarating thing about doing it for the culture is when you can actually see the person’s drive. Reaching back and getting those who may be having a bumpy start. Nonetheless being transparent and sharing your truth is always commendable because it sheds true light on just what reality is.
