Highlighting themes of inclusivity and community through not only the lyrics, but also this brand new music video, Elyse continues to push her brand of ‘spreading positivity through country music’ forward.
Elyse says, “’Genes’ is all about coming together, no matter what race, gender, or place you come from and celebrating that. The song shares this message in a light and almost ambiguous way that will invite fans to peel away new layers of the song every time they listen to it. Co-written and produced by industry heavy hitter, Dan Swinimer (Sacha, Madeline Merlo), along with Jordan Honsinger, “Genes” is the fourth single and video release from Saunders’ 2021 EP, Free.
“Genes” has amassed over 500,000 streams on Apple Music alone, and made quite the radio impression when it hit airwaves February 15th, 2022. It hit Yangaroo’s number one slot for CanCon downloads the week of February 22nd and number one Most Active Indie the same week. The lyric video for “Genes” has collected over 40,000 views on YouTube already.
