Shows how to grow a healthy, stress-tolerant turf capable of withstanding high levels of wear. It covers the concepts and principles of plant growth and the function of primary and secondary nutrients, micronutrients, and soil organic matter. The book goes on to show how to choose the correct fertiliser strategies for establishment and post establishment phases for cool, transitional and warm season turf grasses throughout Australia. It contains a comprehensive treatment of all types of fertilisers including compound NPK, slow release liquid, nitrification and urease inhibitors, sulphur coated and polymer coated products.

Based on the results of our initial trial investigating Poa annua management in a mixed Poa/Agrostis sward on a putting green at Bonnie Doon G.C, we determined that this should be continued into 2019/2020. Results of our earlier trials had already determined the following:
1. Zinc sulphate possibly had a place in the cultural management of Poa annua on Agrostis sp greens. Dilution proved extremely important with this and water of volumes of no less than 800L/Ha should be
used, as our research indicated that soil applications applied in a water volume of 600L/Ha or greater avoided phytotoxicity when the Zn was applied at 25Kg/ha. Over the course of the trial we applied 175kg/Ha in 6 separate applications initially as a soil application at 25Kg/ha.
2. Methiozolin marketed as Poacure® in USA, had proven in the 2018/2019 trial to not be as effective as claimed. The recommended rate of 10,000L/Ha proved totally impractical, whilst there is it seems
there is a strongly detrimental effect on its efficacy when used in association with paclobutrazol. The water volume was later reduced to 5,000L but this was also impractical from both a greenkeeping and a golfing perspective.
3. Ethofumesate marketed as Matrix® amongst other brand names had shown the most promise from both a cost effective and a practical point of view.

In reality I would think not many and so I have put together the following as an initial starting point in relation to this. Currently there appears to be very little information on the toxicity of insecticides, miticides, and fungicides to the numerous species of predators and parasitoids that can occur on turf areas. Encouraging natural enemies to colonize and sustain themselves is an important element of integrated pest management (IPM).
