Black culture and creativity combined with crypto is a powerful force that can reshape how mainstream consumers identify and communicate value online. As Black celebrities, athletes, and influencers recognize the outsized returns they can gain from harnessing these new platforms while providing avenues for those returns to benefit Black communities, we could see the birth of a Black Digital Renaissance. – Cuy Sheffield, Black Crypto Art Collector CLICK IMAGE TO LEARN MORE

BEYOND PROVENANCE: SPECUL ATIVE $BL ACK FUTURES ON THE BLOCKCHAIN ONE / OFF welcomes you to the largest exhibition of work from Black artists on the blockchain. International in scope, the show features artists from across the African diaspora representing South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, and the United States. All works are sourced from several crypto art marketplaces including: Known Origin, Async Art, Super Rare, Makers Place, Rariable, Open Sea and NFT Showroom. The curatorial themes — AfroFuturism, AfroEsotericism,AfroSurrealism, Black Popular Culture, and Black Figurative Artwork are a nod to the Center for Black Visual Culture at, NYU, led by, Dr. Deborah Willis. Through this exhibition and future projects, ONE / OFF seeks to expand on the CBVC’s scholarly and artistic inquiry into the exploration and critical evaluation of images, including the development of visual technologies and bringing it into the crypto space. Historically, the global archive has failed to document or credit, when Black creatives make history but ONE / OFF believes an immutable public record will not only address this concern but allow the Black creative community to control our own narrative. We at ONE / OFF are excited to have you here to view, bear witness, and verify for the immutable record that a burgeoning Black Arts + Culture ecosystem exists on the blockchain. This exhibition and its supporting resources offer a singular representation of what a Black Arts + Culture ecosystem may look like on the blockchain, and we are excited to invite others to dream with us and collectively imagine alternative futures. We believe the work of building a healthy arts and culture ecosystem is tethered to building a strong arts and culture economy. With this in mind, we look forward to partnering with institutions to provide workforce development opportunities for the next generation of arts workers and creative entrepreneurs. Exhibition Highlights: 33 Black Artists • 8 Countries • 7 Crypto Art Marketplaces • 5 Black Curatorial Themes • ∞ Black Futures 1

AFROESOTERECISM Spirituality is core to the African Diaspora. Whether through personal meditation in our homes or a tent rival of thousands, connection to Source is integral to our daily lives. Within this room, reflect on and share your family’s spiritual practices and rituals.

AFROSURREALISM The Black subconscious is fertile ground for exploration of time between ancestor and future. Like the vastness of the unexplored sea floor, there is great depth to our minds and AfroSurrealism is that portal to the Black subconscious. Can you remember your last dream? Do you see any of its themes reflected within the gallery? JAHEEL DOWDY - “MOMENT IN TIME”

BLACK POPULAR CULTURE The worlds biggest export is Black culture. From music to food, personal style to language, the African diaspora fuels creativity around the globe. As you walk through this room, go inward and think about how the blockchain can be a vehicle to further cultural exchange happening between Black people across the globe. VAKSEEN - “NOTHING LIKE U”

BLACK FIGURATIVE ART Self-design is key to building identity. Audre Lorde once said, “If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.” After hundreds of years of image making by others imposing their idea of Black people onto our bodies, art gives us the space to push back. Locate a work that feels like the strongest representation of how you self-identify.
