Hi! You recently released ‘The Quiet’ and it’s brilliant. For anyone who’s yet to hear it, how would you describe the track?

Thank you so much! When describing “The Quiet,” I would say it is a heartfelt tribute to the serene bliss of comfortable silence. The track invites listeners to embrace and appreciate the beauty found in moments of tranquility. With a captivating chorus hook, my intention was to draw the audience into a world of calm and stillness, where they can find solace and peace. I aimed to create an immersive experience, enveloping the listeners in a sonic embrace that gently guides them to savour the peaceful moments life has to offer.

Where did you record it?

I recorded the song at the amazing Sydney based ‘Kiln Studios’ with Adrian Breakspear who produced and mixed the track.

Are you planning to make it part of a larger release, such as an EP or album?

Releasing an EP is definitely in my plans for the near future. As for including “The Quiet” in the collection, I’m still contemplating whether it will be part of the lineup or if I’ll explore fresh and distinct material. I’m dedicating some time to mapping out upcoming releases and diving into the process of writing new songs, allowing my creative vision to unfold organically. So, stay tuned and keep an eye out for what lies ahead!

I’m very interested in how you started your adventure with music, and did you know from the beginning that this is what you wanted to do?

Ever since I can recall, I have been immersed in the world of music, and there has never been a moment in my life where I considered pursuing anything else. It has been a long and rewarding journey, one that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. My musical journey began in the cozy confines of my bedroom, where I poured my heart into crafting songs on a small old notebook. Now, I am blown away to see my music reach far-flung corners of the globe, places I’ve always wanted to visit since I was a child. Music has become an integral part of my identity, and I cannot fathom a life without it-  I believe I am only at the very beginning of this extraordinary journey, and I am brimming with excitement to witness where this path will lead me as I continue to pursue my dreams.

Your music interweaves so many different styles and sounds. If you could collaborate with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

There are a bunch of incredibly talented artists out there that I would be over the moon to collaborate with. Two names that come to mind right away are Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey. I’m a huge fan of their unique writing styles and the way they bring their music to life. What I find really cool about them is that they stay true to themselves while also fearlessly exploring different styles and sounds. It’s that kind of artistic courage that I truly admire. That’s one of the things I love most about music—it’s this ever-evolving journey with endless possibilities. I can’t wait to see where it takes me and who I’ll get the chance to work with along the way!

“What’s been your favorite musical experience to date?”

Oh, there are so many incredible musical experiences that have left a lasting impression on me. It’s hard to single out just one favourite. However, if I were to recall a recent standout moment, it would be when I released a cover of “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star. To my astonishment, I received word that the lead singer, Hope Sandoval, enjoyed my rendition! It was an incredibly surreal experience, especially because I’ve idolised her as a major musical inspiration since I was a young kid.

Another recent favourite musical experience was immersing myself in Ethel Cain’s album, “Preachers Daughter,” from start to finish in one sitting. That album is an absolute masterpiece and it completely shifted my perspective on songwriting. I was inspired by Cain’s ability to create a cohesive narrative and an immersive experience throughout the entire album. It ignited a desire within me to craft an EP or album that tells a captivating story from beginning to end.

Both these experiences have been truly transformative for me, fuelling my creative drive and pushing me to explore new artistic horizons.

Where are you based? Can you tell us how the music scene there has inspired your sound at all?

I currently have dual bases in Canberra, the capital city of Australia, and Sydney. While the music scene in Canberra may be relatively small, it has a close-knit and supportive community feel. It’s like being part of a tight musical family where everyone looks out for one another, shares ideas, and collaborates to help each other gain recognition. I frequently travel to Sydney to collaborate with my producer and manager, Adrian, and it is also where I record all of my music.

The Sydney music scene is a dynamic and ever-evolving environment that never fails to impress me. It’s incredible to witness the abundance of raw talent and creativity within the Australian music community. Being immersed in this vibrant scene has undoubtedly influenced and inspired elements of my sound. I hold deep admiration for the Australian music scene and the sense of community that thrives within it. It’s a constant source of inspiration for me as an artist.

If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

Without a doubt, my ultimate dream venue would be Madison Square Garden. I believe in setting the bar high and aiming for the biggest stages possible! The thought of standing in the spotlight, surrounded by thousands of enthusiastic fans, and delivering an unforgettable performance in such an esteemed setting is incredibly inspiring.

Headlining a major music festival is another aspiration close to my heart. The energy and atmosphere at festivals are absolutely electrifying. The collective enthusiasm of the crowd, with countless fans coming together to witness and celebrate the music we artists pour our hearts into, is an experience like no other. The opportunity to perform on a grand scale is what fuels my artistic passion and motivates me to strive endlessly for those dreams to become a reality.

And what was the first album you remember owning?

Honestly, I think it was either the Mama Mia Soundtrack, or ‘Fearless’ by Taylor Swift. Both are iconic if you ask me!

Finally, have you got anything to share regarding upcoming gigs, and what have you got planned for 2023?

In 2023, I’m happy to announce I’ll be up on the stages of cozy and intimate venues in both Canberra and Sydney. Be sure to check my social media to stay updated on all the exciting details and announcements! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve also been hard at work crafting a collection of fresh new music, which will be making its way to your ears very soon. Alongside these upcoming releases, I’ve been delving into an exciting exploration of a new sound to complement the music. So, stay tuned. There’s lots of exciting things to come!
