"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God."
—Romans 8:14

This Sunday, October 17, we celebrate the Rite of Confirmation for seven of our high school first-year students: Anja Halverson, Ayden Gray, Elizabeth Kapp, Maddux Smith, Morgan Larvick, Natalie O'Brien and Sebastian Reinfeld. What a wonderful day for the church!

Confirmation. What does it mean to be confirmed in the church? In the Lutheran tradition, Confirmation is an opportunity for young adults to affirm their baptismal promises. It is a time to celebrate taking the next step in committing themselves to live lives as Christ asks—in love for our neighbor. For us as the church, it is an opportunity to pledge our own commitment to ensuring these young adults are supported throughout the next phase of their spiritual journeys. It is a time to celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit continuing to move through our lives both individually and together as a congregation.

Together, let us pray. Gracious and loving God, send your Spirit into the hearts of Anja, Ayden, Elizabeth, Maddux, Morgan, Natalie and Sebastian. Be with each of us as we continue to walk each day in faith and love. Help us to be Your hands and feet in the world. Amen.

Peace,
Sarah Swagler

Sunday, October 17

Pastor Lindsay Mack is preaching
21st Sunday after Pentecost
Our annual Confirmation Service will be this Sunday, October 17, at 9am. We encourage you to wear red!

Both services that day (9am and 11am) will have identical services with a blended music style, except for the addition of the confirmation rite at 9am. Because of confirmation at 9am, we may have a more crowded service than normal, so if you're not family of a confirmand and you'd like to have more space to socially distance, you are welcome to attend the 11am service.
We continue to follow guidance put forth by the Chicago synod and state and local guidelines:
  • Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Fully vaccinated members are permitted to sing quietly in worship.
  • Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer.
  • If you are feeling sick, please stay home.
The nursery is OPEN this Sunday.

Sunday Morning Outdoor Eucharist at 8:30 a.m.

This Sunday we will celebrate a very brief eucharist with a time of prayer on the front lawn at LMC at 8:30. We are conscious that not all folks are comfortable or even advised to worship indoors right now, so we are going to pilot a brief communion service for the next few weeks.

YouTube Worship this Sunday at 9:00 a.m.

The service will be streamed live on Facebook for those unable to attend worship in-person. The services will also be available after airing via LMC’s YouTube page. The focus of the filming will be on the service itself, but if you’re certain you don’t want to be on camera then consider sitting further back in the church.

We recognize that streaming has been less than ideal. We ask for your grace as we are working diligently with our tech team to make improvements.

Prayer Chain

If you have a request for prayers, please send a confidential email to the office to be added to the prayer chain.
