Despite a warm summer, the 2020 vintage at Leflaive is not overly ripe. The three key factors that contributed to its success were saturated soils, moderate temperatures without heat spikes, and cool nights that balanced sugar levels. The hallmark of the 2020 Leflaive wines is their impeccable freshness. The fruit profile leans more towards white than yellow, reflecting the classic and refined nature of the vintage. The harvest started earlier than usual but still had a normal length. June's rain helped rehydrate the soils before the hot and dry summer began. Harvest began on August 20th in Puligny, with grapes in superb condition and full of juice and fruity aromas. The quality and generosity of the 2020 vintage surprised and delighted the team at Leflaive, ranking it among their very best and setting a new benchmark.
