With most other producers in the Cote de Nuits, the hot and dry conditions led to an early harvest at Lambrays, with picking starting on the 20th August and concluding on the 26th. The north-south orientation of most of the vines meant that there was little issue with sunburnt berries. Fruit was of high quality but with drastically reduced volumes, around 15hl / ha for Pinot Noir. 80% whole bunches were used in the Grand Cru, 50% for the Premier Cru and none for the village. Despite the evident ripe fruit character in the resulting wines the terroir character is much in evidence. These are wine with the structure to age and the Grand Cru probably deserves another ten years in the cellar.

Domaine des Lambrays Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Loups 2019
Red | 750 ML | JM 91-94
This includes the youngest vines (2000) of the grand cru declassified, which will account for 40% of the 1er cru. Delicious fresh mid purple, lovely strawberry notes, 50% whole bunch. Not massive, but detailed and balanced, a touch of spice behind, fruit is certainly on the soft side, a tannin or two and fair acidity.

Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2015
Red | 750 ML | JM 95
The sensual nose shows warmth but not heat, slightly muting the whole bunch effect. Almost some peach flesh. The density is there and some firm tannins which currently stand out against the fruit, which has gone quiet. Even so, everything is very much in place and there is enough natural acidity.

Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2011
Red | 1.5 L | Burg 93
This offers a big step up in aromatic complexity with its ripe and expressive nose of red berry fruit liqueur, cassis, plum and violets. There is a very suave and seductive texture to the medium weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of mouth coating extract, all wrapped in a long, balanced and delicious finish where a touch of minerality adds lift.

ABOUT DOMAINE DES LAMBRAYS
Clos des Lambrays is a Grand Cru vineyard of just under nine hectares from which the Domaine des Lambrays takes its name. Lambrays has a long and distinguished history, being first recorded in 1365 and was farmed for a long period by the monks of Citeaux. The vineyard was broken up and sold off after the revolution but was reunified during the nineteenth century. Although the high quality of the wines produced from the Clos was widely acknowledged, Grand Cru status was only granted in 1981. This was during the period when Thierry Brouin managed the property, a role he only relinquished after the purchase by LVMH in 2014.
Devauges began to institute a programme of changes at Domaine des Lambrays and these were already beginning to take effect at the time of the 2020 vintage. As well as beginning an expansion and upgrade of the cellars, which were ready in time for the 2022 vintage, 2019 saw the introduction of biodynamic farming.
