Kauan Farias, also known in-game as "Faariaz" ( /ˈfɛriəz/ FAH-REE-AS), is a veteran Brazilian Minecraft FrontPageSprite player.png: Sprite image for player in Minecraft player, editor and an autopatrol of the Portuguese Wiki in his free time, mainly helping with the translation of articles.

How he met the game[edit | edit source]

It was by watching Brazilian YouTube videos from classics such as Leon, Monark, VenomExtreme, Rezende, Nenho and Nenha and others that he met and had his first contact with Minecraft, in mid-2010, with only five years old. It was only in 2011, however, that Kauan could finally play the game, still with a cracked account and using launchers such as EnvSprite overworld.png: Sprite image for overworld in Minecraft "MinecraftSP.exe" and BlockSprite sponge.png: Sprite image for sponge in Minecraft Shiginima, for example, and creating his first map in a superflat world, in Creative mode, doing his first house. He remembers that it was built using bricks, glass and a roof of oak planks, besides using Soartex Fanver resource pack – all this in the 1.2.5 version. Although this is the first version he played, Kauan also remembers to have adventured himself in the first ever Release, the 1.0.0. Four years later, he got his original Minecraft account after buying a key from an old Brazilian website called Centralkeys (archive), which he still owns.

Discovering the online[edit | edit source]

Starting to play in Brazilian servers like Craftlândia, especially through their launcher, he began discovering more and more of the various possible game modes, going through survival, BlockSprite iron-bars.png: Sprite image for iron-bars in Minecraft Prison, ItemSprite iron-sword.png: Sprite image for iron-sword in Minecraft Kit PvP, ItemSprite diamond-pickaxe.png: Sprite image for diamond-pickaxe in Minecraft Rankup and others, with the last two being what Kauan used to play the most. Around 2013–2015, an old server called SpacePvP caught his attention and made him addicted to ItemSprite diamond-pickaxe.png: Sprite image for diamond-pickaxe in Minecraft Rankup servers, a game mode in which you must improve your ranking usually through mining, but also through machines, spawners and other ways to get money. He wasn't only good at this but also at PvP, winning several battles against players in themed arenas.

Experiences and passions[edit | edit source]

He used to also be part of the team of some servers, working from helper to moderator, and until the present days he loves giving support to both beginners and veterans, bringing all his experience gathered from more than 10 years of playing Minecraft to the surface. In addition, Kauan also has experiences with creating servers and knows how to handle most plugins and their commands, but lately he has lost practice dealing with it since it is no longer something he does often.

Another passion of his is with mods. Brazilian series such as Minecraft com Mods ("Minecraft with Mods", in English) by the YouTuber joserobjr (now Polyana), for example, made him feel super curious to test all of this on his own computer, and used to spent hours exploring iconic mods such as IndustrialCraft, BuildCraft, EffectSprite levitation.png: Sprite image for levitation in Minecraft Aether and thousands of others, even creating his own modpacks: "Dexty" and "Lucky Block Mod", both available on his old account on the Technic website.

And it wasn't only series about mods that used to catch Kauan's attention, but many others that nowadays are classics, such as: "Paraíso" ("Paradise", in English), "Isolados" ("Isolated", in English), "Escadona" ("Big Stair", in English), "Diários de Minecraft" ("Minecraft Diaries", in English) and more. These captivating contents and all this adventure placed in a children's hand made him get all the knowledge and nostalgia he has today, and remembering these moments are more than special, but an unforgettable and unique memory of a happy childhood, whose moments will never happen again.

Kauan was one of the pioneers, along with LucasGameszYT, Jonasagra, Dr03ramos and Werkhauser, to create a content creator and modding space in the Portuguese Wiki, all within an exclusive namespace to the Community. With the addition of the first mods, OptiFine and Aether, the list started to consolidate and grow up even more every single day, along with the creators, thus shaping the whole idea and making it so the Wiki, a place where many Minecraft players already trust, don't be just about the base game itself, but also involves our precious community, which makes the game alive until today, and there's nothing better than honoring them for that somehow. Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The first in-game name Kauan created that started his original account was "iKauanFariasBR", however, in an attempt to clear the history and keep only "Faariaz" and "faariAz_" in the list (since he thought his other in-game names were ugly), he got in touch with Mojang via email requesting the others' removal, but they had only deleted this one since the remaining in-game names didn't have any personal information that could compromise his integrity. Now, "iKauanFariasBR" is only part of the history and is no longer linked to Kauan's account.

  • Kauan was already an editor that contributed to the extinct Brazilian page Minecraft Interessante (archive; in German) ("Interesting Minecraft", in English), on Facebook, created by the Brazilian Wiki director, Jonas Agra, and having almost 20.000 likes. The page was about curious and interesting subjects from the game, in addition to also informing players, but that was suspended by a boycott given by the platform. He was the responsible for temporarily posting updates from Minecraft Live 2021 to the followers, keeping them in touch about the event and the winner of the Mob Vote from that year, which was the EntitySprite allay.png: Sprite image for allay in Minecraft Allay.
