Candy Apple – “Heaven’s Gate”

The dust is gradually beginning to settle within the hardcore and punk scenes after going through some rewarding creatively weird years. Candy Apple aren’t ready to see that day. They’re a vacuum of resistance of their feet ever touching ground again with “Heaven’s Gate”, an early highlight from the Denver four-piece’s upcoming sophomore effort, Comatose. Maybe it’s not enough nowadays for a band to merely barrel into the pit sounding heavy and violent, even if you’re still going to get bodies moving. This is something else — a much needed injection of extremist enlightenment that maxes out their already overloaded formula of scuzzy, disgusting hardcore noise and acidic vitriol being vomited from the the mouth of vocalist Tristan Sagar into yours under the guise of Kool-Aid. You’re levitating in the chaos swirl as electricity goes ascendant. There’s even a cowbell losing its mind in there somewhere, too. This is the path to a higher level which only Candy Apple can guide you to.

Candy Apple’s Comatose will be released May 17th on Convulse Records.
