It's All Happening

Sammy Grand

Project Description

I began writing this story almost two years ago, and seeing it come to life has been one of the most rewarding and beautiful experiences of my life. I am in post-production with it right now, but I can't wait to put it out into the world, and continue to create work that is meaningful to me with people who share my vision.

What Form will your Final Project Take?

I will be submitting the short film to festivals.

Who was supporting you in your work?

James Kienitz Wilkins, Assistant Professor of Screen Studies. I began writing this story in the first class I ever took with James during the first semester of my Junior year. He has overseen this project from the very beginning and this semester he provided wonderful feedback during class, and has been a constant resource for me when needed.

Project Themes:

Creative

How has this project has been impactful or transformative?

Making this project has been an incredible experience for so many reasons, but meeting people through it was one of the best parts. I met the most amazing and talented people, and through this short film, I have begun to create my own little circle of creatives working in New York.

What would you do differently?

I'm not sure if there is anything in particular I would do differently. I think a lot of time and planning went into it and everyone involved was truly amazing, but generally speaking, the more that one can plan, the better.

Short summary of your experience:

Receiving the grant for my Senior Capstone allowed me to create one of the best experiences of my life, which was shooting my short film.
