Hello, Parents of incoming sixth graders!

We are happy to welcome you to our grade 5 to 6 transition site. You are going to meet many staff members who are involved in supporting our students for a successful transition into middle school. Everyone knows entering middle school can be an exciting and scary experience for parents and students. We hope that this site provides you with great insights into understanding what Stamford Middle School is about and how thrilled we are to make our future generation of lions feel at home.

Welcome to grade 6! Your schedule will be aligned with the MYP philosophy and is set up to help you on your individualized learning pathway. You will have six year-long courses as well as Design, Visual Art, Music, and Drama for a semester each. Additionally, you will have time Advisory time for a social/emotional curriculum, and Academic Lab time where you can work with teachers, progress on group projects, and attend meetings.

Welcome to the Middle School! Our comprehensive, data- driven school counselling program supports a thriving culture of care for all students. At our core, we believe in a foundation of collaboration inspired through partnership with students, families, and the greater SAIS community. We serve the needs of our community through a deep commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment. We see this as essential to advocating for and meeting social-emotional needs of our diverse learners.

Each of the IB programmes is developmentally appropriate for children based on academic, social, and emotional development. As students move from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) various components connect this transition.
