Reynard "Nard" Taylor Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 17. He was named after his father and received his nickname at birth. Nard inherited his love of music, much like he inherited his name, from his father. He would play records from his large vinyl collection in the family's basement. By the age of nine, Nard and his siblings were recording songs. He credits this as his beginning love affair with music. After graduating High school, Nard moved to Jersey City, New Jersey to attend Saint Peter’s College. A few years later, Nard was presented with an opportunity to travel to Cairo, Egypt. He was embraced by fellow musicians in the thriving music scene, and after a few impromptu performances he was selected to perform at the 2012 Red Bull BC One, in Alexandria. When asked what separates him from other artists, he simply responds “Truth over perception."
