HELPING HANDS

ID SPONSORSHIP & COMMUNITY OUTREACH

With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. We partner with a local title and loan business which helps to facilitate IDs for those who need them for $35 each (sponsored by us.) We then network with companies who will hire despite housing status, and some without any background check at all.

One company recently reported back to us. They've had five people referred to work for them from Tom's Palms who have now been employed successfully for over a year and are off the streets.

COMMUNITY GIVEBACK

Community Giveback happens on many different levels. From filling community fridges when possible to hosting large events where we take food and hygeine kits to tent encampments throughout the valley.

Large Community Givebacks are done frequently throughout the year and are usually sponsored by local chefs or businesses and we ask the community to come volunteer. Regular volunteers do smaller excursions weekly. Anyone is welcome to join these days but do get in touch first as the days sometimes change. We encourage volunteers to pack extra goods for our cars on these days to handout throughout the week as they see people in their neighborhood.

We accept prepackaged foods and prepared food from food safe establishments. 

FIRST AID & WOUND CARE

At Tom's Palms, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. With the growing cost of medical care, many living unsheltered lack the resources or stamina necessary in getting basic first aid treatment. We believe we can facilitate progress in this area.

We have a licensed RN that goes out with us for first aid and simple wound care. They also will provide information to different medical services depending on which best fits their situation. We're also able to direct them towards clinics which will enroll them in AHCCCS to help with basic costs.

TOM'S CLOSET

Tom's Closet refers to our storage pod located near Nature's Medicine in Phoenix as well as the various other closets we've partnered to create. One of our partners is an organization which has now expanded into helping over 900 safe and sober houses. This includes the only sober nursery in Arizona as well as many other safe houses in the state.

This initiative also helps to support our Community Givebacks. Businesses and citizens alike can help this cause by donating new or gently used items at any of our drop box locations! Empty your closet or your warehouse. We accept company swag such as tshirts, hats, sunglasses, etc. We also accept things like stickers or lanyards for when we set up our table at events. Get in touch for large donations! Donations of all sizes are elligible for a tax write off.
