Northern Flicker Woodpeckers.

Northern Flicker Woodpeckers.

These are a few of the pictures we captured of Northern Flicker Woodpeckers in our backyard.
Music: Correle Carna
The slideshow was made in MiniTool Moviemaker. "This brown woodpecker flashes bright colors under the wings and tail when it flies. Its ringing calls and short bursts of drumming can be heard in spring almost throughout North America. Two very different-looking forms -- Yellow-shafted Flicker in the east and north, and Red-shafted Flicker in the west -- were once considered separate species. They interbreed wherever their ranges come in contact. On the western Great Plains, there is a broad zone where all the flickers are intergrades between Red-shafted and Yellow-shafted."- Audubon "12" (30 cm). Brown back with narrow black bars, black chest patch, spots on belly. Eastern "Yellow-shafted" form has bright yellow under wings and tail, red crescent on back of head, tan face, gray crown; male has black mustache stripe. Western "Red-shafted" has salmon-pink under wings and tail, gray face, brown crown; male has red mustache stripe. Where the forms meet (southwestern Canada, western Great Plains) they interbreed freely, producing many intermediates." - Audubon

Camping craft supplies.

Crafting on the dinette table of our Jayco on a rainy, cold day. The example on my tablet is from the free Drawing Whimsical Faces Challenge by Ivana Zoza (Artful Haven)

I used to have most of my supplies in pencil pouches, as you can see here, but I replaced some of them with transparent 4" x 6" photo storage boxes. I got this idea from YouTube videos Travel Tote for my Smash book, Journals and Day Planner by TracysTreasures24 and My Portable Filofax station by Hey Nay.

The translucent boxes offer three benefits: they are uniform, I don't need to identify them, and I can see what's inside. One benefit of the pencil pouches is that they take up less room than the boxes when they are less full. I’m not affiliated in any way with these suppliers.
  1. Exacto vacuum mount pencil sharpener.
  2. Studio Dual tip markers.
  3. Drawing pencils.
  4. Watercolour pencils, I have replaced the pencil box with a smaller container.
  5. Markers, calligraphy pens, etc.
  6. Acrylic paint tubes.
  7. Paintbrushes, water brushes, foam brushes, watercolour palette, etc. The photo boxes weren't tall enough for the brushes, so I used a craft organizer.
  8. Waterproof colouring pencils. The photo boxes weren't tall enough for the pencils, so I used a craft organizer.
  9. Inkpads, gluestick, water spray bottle, masking tape, make-up sponges, dimensional tape, old credit cards, baby wipes, small pencil sharpener, palette knife, binder clips, etc. I used a craft organizer as the masking tape was too wide for the photo boxes and the mister bottle was too high.
  10. Craft mat (goes into another craft bag)
  11. Dixon Watercolor Set of 16
  12. Artist series Sketchbook and pencil set. (goes into another craft bag)
  13. Acrylic stamps and acrylic block.
  14. Lettering stencil, compass, small ruler, triangle, etc.
  15. Erasers, kneaded eraser, pencil eraser, etc.
  16. Eyeshadow aplicators, sticky notes, gluestick, etc.
  17. Tissues.
  18. Small layering stencils.

I keep most of my camper craft supplies in a large, zippered olive canvas tool bag. Because the side pockets take up more space in the larger compartment, I don't utilize them. The bag's measurements are 19"(L) x 10" (W) x 9" (H)

The other containers are visible once I take out the one holding the watercolor pencils. I'll try to replace the watercolor pencil container with a smaller one that fits on top.

I store my most frequently used supplies, such as a 12-inch ruler, scissors, erasers, glue sticks, etc., in a Large Pencil Case with an Organizer by VLB 1ct 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/2".  I use the metal gauge to draw the iris, pupils and highlights in faces.

I remove eraser dust using a makeup brush.
My other bag has coloring books, sketchbooks, watercolour pads, huge stencils, tracing paper, reference books, and more. When I go camping, I love to use the Fiskars Scrap Book Craft Bag Case Album Tool Tote to store extra books, inspiration files, index cards, recipe books, and other items.
