Current U.S. Student

United States citizens who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs are eligible to apply. If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a U.S. college or university, you will apply through that institution, even if you are not currently a resident there. 2024 Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors

Purpose

In 2008, this program was established to identify and train a group of approximately 20 alumni annually to serve as representatives for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

Selection

Each fall, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Embassies, Fulbright Program Managers, and the Outreach Division come together to recommend alumni for the ambassador program. The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs then approves the final selection of Alumni Ambassadors.

About

Alumni Ambassadors come from an array of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, states, fields of study, institutions, and world regions in which their Fulbright experience took place. They play a key role in bringing awareness about Fulbright opportunities and provide testimonials through conferences, presentations, webinars, articles, podcasts, and special initiatives throughout the U.S.

Assisting potential applicants, Alumni Ambassadors share real Fulbright experiences, the challenges of living abroad successfully, and how to meet the Fulbright Program's ultimate goal—to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of other countries.

Please contact us if you are interested in becoming an Alumni Ambassador or would like an Alumni Ambassador to present at an in-person or virtual event.
