Hello, NORD. Greetings and welcome to Vents! I see you’re building a name for yourself in the music industry. How does it make you feel?
The overwhelming feedback from my listeners thus far has been beyond supportive, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to share my music with the world. The number-one motivating factor for everything involved in my career is the support I receive because it reassures me that my work is being heard and valued. Music is my passion, and sharing it makes me extremely happy regardless of anything else.
Can you tell us more about your latest single?
My latest single “SORRY” was produced by my good friend Nick Nash who lives across the country in North Carolina, written by myself, and engineered by my other good friend Hayden Balmain who lives all the way across the world in Poland. The initial inspiration for the song was from an argument that took place between myself and my family the night before, and I just had a sea of built of emotion that I decided to unleash in front of my microphone. I didn’t even write any of the song’s lyrics down separately until after I finished recording it. Being only my second ever released studio single, the release of “SORRY” showed me that people had an interest in my specific style as an emerging artist and will most definitely will have a lasting stylistic influence on the future vibes showcased in my upcoming work.
Is it better to do creative work in a studio setting or engage with a live audience? Which of these two choices piques your interest the most?
As it stands, I have only ever done in-studio recording and performance in my career as an artist. However, headlining venues and performing my studio-recorded music in the presence of a live audience is one of my top goals for the foreseeable future. My listener-base is expanding rapidly by the day, and with the growth of my audience will come many live shows and events surrounding NORD as an artist.
Do you ever have to cope with criticism and doubters because of the large impact of social media critics?
With any form of art, there are going to be critics and people who are just generally envious in the direction of success. I’ve learned to balance taking actual constructive feedback that is presented to me for the sake of improving my craft as a musician in conjunction with acknowledging the positive feedback and support I receive at the same time. At the end of the day, I make music for myself and the people who genuinely enjoy it; the rest, I don’t pay much attention to.
Who would you choose if you could go on tour with any popular industry musician in the near future, and why?
If I could choose one popular industry musician to go on tour with in the near future, it would have to be Kevin Powers. I find that his music’s energy corresponds very well with my portfolio, and I’ve always looked up to his artistic style as a major inspiration in sparking my initial interest for music.
What more can we look forward to from your work in 2022?
My next big project as an artist will be my debut album, which has yet to be announced, and will be releasing on all streaming platforms nearing the end of 2022. For updates, listeners should follow my Instagram and all of my artist streaming profiles. The songs featured on this project will be the next stepping-stone in establishing my sound as a musician and further expanding my already rapidly growing community of supporters.
