Musician and artist Solange Knowles is letting go of two historic properties. The first is the A Seat at the Table singer’s longtime downtown Hollywood loft situated right on the Walk of Fame, and the other is an old New Orleans church that once served as a headquarters for Saint Heron, the multidisciplinary creative studio helmed by Knowles.

Priced at $799,000, the former is a 1,360-square-foot one-bedroom unit in a 1929-built art deco-style building with 1.5 baths, plus an office and a bonus room. Giving up the two-story dwelling will likely be bittersweet for the Grammy winner, who moved there in 2008 when she was just 19 with a freshly signed record deal. “No matter where I’ve gone or moved, no matter the friends or relationships that have come in or out of my life, this loft has always been a place of home,” Knowles said of the stylish space in an interview with Apartamento last year. “It’s been one of the most constant, grounding things in my life.”

During her tenancy, Knowles decorated the open-plan living space with her extensive collection of Black art and Saint Heron-designed pieces, including a curving modular brown velvet couch. Up an angular black metal staircase, the modern all-greige primary suite features views of the famous Capitol Records Building and an ensuite bathroom equipped with a Japanese soaking tub accessed by four tall concrete steps.

“It completely immerses you up to your neck in water, just with you sitting,” Knowles said in the Apartamento interview. “And I do most of my writing, conception, and ideation for performances and installations in the bathtub.” The loft, which has polished concrete floors and high exposed beam ceilings, also comes with access to a shared rooftop that boasts views of the iconic Hollywood sign. Daniel Banchik and Amy Dantzler of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties hold the listing.

The New Orleans property, which boasts a $950,000 price tag, is an over-100-year-old stone church spanning 7,500 square feet. Knowles, who also maintains another home in the French Quarter, bought the structure in 2018. It features all-white walls, dark hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, and arched windows, and is slated for residential or commercial use. The airy congregation space has an 18-foot-tall vaulted wood ceiling. Phillipa Bowers at Reve Realtors holds the listing.
