DENVER—Nov. 30, 2023—The Denver Art Museum (DAM) excitedly announces an engaging lineup of Colorado creatives, artists and collaborators for the 2024 season of Untitled events. The new year of Artist Takeover programs will continue to highlight collaborators’ roles in developing these exciting quarterly opportunities for creative celebration.
Untitled events connect the community with regional artists and creatives, offering immersive programming featuring performances, artmaking and one-of-a-kind experiences along with the opportunity for connecting and socializing. Each event is led by a duo of artists and selected collaborators, showcasing the artists’ perspectives and practices and providing a unique lens into the museum’s collections and exhibitions, activating the museum in participatory ways.
At each Untitled, featured artists present their work while providing an unexpected and engaging atmosphere. Experiences are developed around current exhibitions and programming, as the Untitled series is part of the museum’s overarching commitment to provide a platform for Denver’s creative community, while engaging the public in discovering the museum’s global collections and exhibitions on view.
The Ponti restaurant and Café Gio at the DAM will both be open for visitors to dine during the special late-night hours of the quarterly Untitled events. Reservations for The Ponti can be made at thepontidenver.com.
“Community building and inclusivity are rooted in creativity. This program aims to forge connections between creatives and visitors, highlighting artists’ voices in a social environment,” said Sarah Rockett, Manager of Creative and Public Engagement at the DAM. "Untitled is an opportunity to connect with creativity while enjoying entertainment and participating in artmaking and many other immersive activities.”
The 2024 Untitled season kicks off January 26, 2024, headlined by visual artist Quána Madison and performing artist Wes Watkins. Madison’s work reflects her roles as a mindfulness teacher, healing arts workshop facilitator and self-leadership coach. Expressive visual artmaking helped revive her soul following health challenges and Madison firmly believes art nourishes wellbeing. Watkins is a Denver-based musician and “cosmos crusader.” Previously houseless, Watkins routinely counters systems of indoctrinated oppression. He hopes his music makes listeners dance, think, cry and strive to be better.
All museum spaces and exhibitions are open during Untitled and featured exhibitions include Amoako Boafo: Soul of Black Folks, All Stars: American Artists from The Phillips Collection, The Skeletal World of José Guadalupe Posada, Perfectly Imperfect: Korean Buncheong Ceramics, as well as Islands Beyond Blue: Niki Hastings-McFall and Treasures from the Oceania Collection. Amoako Boafo and All Stars are ticketed exhibitions and additional ticket purchase is required for entry. Also on view are the Arts of Africa and Modern and Contemporary Art galleries.

JANUARY 26 | 6-10 p.m.
- Quána Madison – Visual artist, mindfulness teacher, healing arts workshop facilitator, self-leadership coach, model and artist-philanthropist.
- Wes Watkins – Performing artist based in Denver, musician and “cosmos crusader.” Wes strives to be everything he imagines the world could be, perfect in imperfection and constantly seeking to be better.
APRIL 26 | 6-10 p.m.
- Victor Escobedo – Visual artist who has developed a compelling style expressed in various forms of expression using ceramic masks, marionettes, murals, paintings and performances rooted in reimagined ancient iconography.
- Gabby Gutierrez-Reed – Colorado-based comedian who relates to audiences through playful, confessional jokes. She is the undefeated five-time champion of You Look Like at Loonees Comedy Corner.
JULY 26 | 6-10 p.m.
- Kayla Marque – Her musical journey began in her childhood home in Park Hill, Denver, coming from a creative and musical family, with her uncle, Larry Dunn of the legendary band Earth, Wind, and Fire, her father a saxophonist, her mother a writer and her sister a musician and dancer.
- Christine Nguyen – Draws upon the imagery of nature, the sciences and the cosmos, without being limited to a conventional reading of these realms.
OCTOBER 25 | 6-10 p.m.
- Slam Nuba – The Slam Nuba collective of artists performs poetry throughout the nation, as well as teaches workshops locally in and around Colorado and the region.
Untitled is included in general admission, which is free for museum members and everyone 18 and under thanks to the Free for Kids program. Museum audiences are encouraged to check the museum’s website and social media channels—including #UntitledDAM—to learn more.
Covid-19 Protocols
