About this event

Queer Drag Life Drawing Classes featuring LGBTQ+ models, facilitated by Sophie Kathleen (they/them) and Matt David (they/them).

Basic materials will be provided (such as paper, clipboards, pencils, pastels etc.) but bringing your own is encouraged.

  • We will begin with an intro to the space and the model
  • We will explain the prompts/techniques to try, give you some guidance and we'll get into the creating!
  • We will have a short break mid way and also time for sharing and socialising at the end

The class is open to all abilities (even if you think you can’t draw - you CAN!) and our aim is to create a brave and vulnerable space for us to connect and enjoy the creative process together.

For more info or any questions please email Soph at sophiekathleenstevens@gmail.com.

About the facilitators:

Sophie Kathleen (they/them) is a queer Illustrator/Artist based in Surrey, whose vibrant and often political work focuses on their passion for LGBTQ+ empowerment and taboo-tackling subjects.

They use their art as activism and aim to highlight the need for inclusivity and queer representation. They aim to build community, promote equality and inspire others by sharing their work online, running creative workshops in the community and working with like-minded clients as a freelance Illustrator.

Matt David (they/them) is a queer artist and founder of Kings for Life (Drawing).

Kings for Life (Drawing) is a workshop allowing artists to experience drag in a few ways and be able to draw new and exciting subjects, as well as drag kings/things to gain new skills in life modelling and gain work outside of just the nightlife scene.

They have facilitated multiple creative workshops, including Self Portrait workshops for Positive East, alongside making their own artwork with a focus on portraiture and life drawing.
