Conservatory Explore Nights: Hawaiian Luau

Break out your favorite Hawaiian shirt, mermaid and/or hula costume and join us, as we say good-bye to summer with an awesome family style luau. From 6-8pm kids can make a lei, and get their picture taken with a Mermaid Princess. Then take the entire family over to watch and participate in a traditional polynesian dance performance with Manivic Dance Company, or team up with other guests for a family friendly game of beach ball volleyball.

Conservatory Explore Nights: Superheroes Night Out

Do you have a budding superhero in your household?  Break out those superhero costumes and come to the Conservatory for a night of superhero-themed Family Fun. From 6-8pm you can take a ride on the trackless train with costumed superhero characters, try your superhero skills at the pint-sized obstacle course, and draw your favorite superhero while watching chalk artist Lori Hughes create amazing superhero-themed art.

Conservatory Explore Nights: Pirate Palooza

Ahoy ye Hearties! Dress up the family in yer best pirate clothin’ ‘n come t’ the Conservatory fer a night o’ family fun. Grab yer loot map as ye check in ‘n proceed on yer journey in search o’ booty ‘n fun.  Stop by the craft area where ye can make a parrot matey (free) t’ take wit’ ye on yer journey, ‘n make a sand art bottle ($4 while supplies last). While yer strolling along from 6-8pm ye’ may be  greeted by the scallywag Cap’n Jack ‘n his accordion musiker (that’s pirate for musician arrrgh!). Grub Trucks ‘n a Bar will be on-site t’ starve off yer hunger ‘n soothe yer soul wit’ some adult beverages.

Join us as the gardens and interior biomes transform into a wonderland of lights and experiences. Explore captivating new displays, including mesmerizing lights synchronized with holiday melodies, immersive light installations, outdoor illuminated games, a lively dance celebration, and a retreat to festive igloos for an assortment of tabletop games.

These fun new additions are featured alongside returning favorites, including the ornament trees, the Whirly Tree by Tork Inc., the life-size gingerbread house, and the magical train display of the Paul Busse Garden Railway.

Arbor Day Festival presented by Ahlum & Arbor at Franklin Park Conservatory

Celebrate a love of trees and commitment to environmental sustainability with Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation at the Conservatory. This popular event returns as a festival that features an array of tree & nature activities for all ages: kids tree climbing, touch-a-truck, sapling giveaways, tree ID hikes, musical puppet shows and much more! A full list of activities and guest organizations is listed below.

There will also be food and other refreshments from the Conservatory’s Garden Café and three local vendors.

In addition to Arbor Day activities, guests can explore the springtime gardens, view current exhibitions and shop at Botanica Gift Shop & Greenhouse.

General Admission tickets are required but no additional reservations are necessary to attend.

Blown Away Guest Gaffer: Jonathan Capps

Prepare to be Blown Away! Are you as big of fan of the Netflix reality series Blown Away as we are? Season 4 competitor, Jonathan Capps, will join the Franklin Park Conservatory glass blowing team as a guest glass artist during our daily demonstrations on  Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14th from 12-3pm.  Jonathan will create blown glass pieces that will be available for sale through Botanica Gift Shop & Greenhouse and will answer audience questions about his work and time on the series Blown Away.  

A limited number of timed hotshop seats will be available for the demonstrations at the hot shop on a first come, first served basis starting at 11am each day.  Additional seating and viewing areas (outside the hotshop fence) will be unticketed and available on a first come, first served basis.

Note: Securing an admission ticket to the Conservatory does not ensure you a seat inside the hotshop for the Jonathan Capps demo.  Guests will need to check in at the hotshop (starting at 11am each day) to secure a timed ticket to watch a demo.

Rainforest Biome Planter

The Rainforest Biome Planter class is canceled.


This is a hands-on class led by Conservatory educator, Nicole Tabit.

Explore the depths of the rainforest from right here in Ohio! You may know that rainforests are incredibly diverse and complex, but in this class you’ll get hands-on experience learning about this unique ecosystem while standing in the Rainforest Biome. We will take a guided tour to highlight some of our iconic plants, from the diverse bromeliad family to unique orchids to some of our food-producing trees, and then create a rainforest-inspired house plant planter, complete with decor items.

Communal Garden: From Spores to Supper

Classes in The Communal Garden series teach gardeners skills that can be used in community gardens or to support their community through gardening. They are low-cost in an effort to advance gardening skills in our communities. The series is a part of the Conservatory’s Growing to Green program, which supports and develops community gardens across Central Ohio.

From Spores to Supper- Te’Lario’s Intro to the World of Mushrooms. Come explore the fascinating life cycle of mushrooms with Te’Lario Watkins! Participants will have the opportunity to observe a mushroom kit demonstration and learn about the cultivation process, while also learning about the nutritional benefits of mushrooms. Join us for a mushroom adventure that combines science, nature and delicious discoveries.

Retired Orchid Sale for Members

Reservations for the Retired Orchid Sale are available now! Members must be logged in to their accounts to reserve a spot.

This is your chance to own a piece of Orchids, one of the Conservatory’s most beautiful exhibitions. During the sale, members can purchase orchids that have been retired from the annual exhibition. A limited amount of tropical houseplants and foliage will also be available but inventory primarily consists of in-bloom and out-of-bloom orchids.

Plants will be priced to sell and inventory is limited. A reservation is required to shop the sale but does not guarantee inventory availability. The sale is in The Wells Barn, a short distance from the main Conservatory building. Signage will direct members to the parking lot in front of The Wells Barn. If you need directions, please consult the Conservatory map.

Homeschool Day: Bugs and Botany

The Conservatory is excited to host another Homeschool Day. All homeschool families are invited to join us for a day of learning and fun! Discover the complex relationships between plants and tiny creatures who help them grow through immersive hands-on activities. Take a guided tour of our metamorphosis lab and live butterfly exhibit before heading home with a bug identification activity.

Bring The Farm To You

Founder of Bring the Farm to You LLC, Christa brings her very own farm right to Franklin Park Conservatory. Interact with chicks, chickens, ducks, a turkey, rabbits, sheep, goats, and even a pig during this petting zoo experience.

Guests can also explore the springtime gardens, view current exhibitions, shop at Botanica Gift Shop & Greenhouse and dine at the Garden Café.

Create a Gingerbread House

Registration is available now!


Spend a sweet day with friends and family creating a mini house with graham crackers, icing and candy.

Please read the reservation instructions before reserving tickets:

  • Reservations are available starting 11am on October 26. They are required for all guests, including members.
  • Plan to make reservations as a family or group. Each reservation includes one gingerbread house kit ($10) and groups need to make as many reservations as they want kits. For example, a group that wants to create one gingerbread house together would need to make one reservation. A group that wants to have two kits would need to make two reservations and so on. At least one reservation is required to participate in the event but not every person in the group needs a reservation unless the group wants a kit for every person.
  • General Admission is required to participate in Create a Gingerbread House. Please reserve General Admission tickets online, in advance for November 24 in addition to making a reservation(s) for Create a Gingerbread House.
  • General Admission tickets and Create a Gingerbread House reservations can be purchased in one transaction. The system will require you to log into your account or create an account before making a transaction.
    • When available, click the link to make a reservation for Create a Gingerbread House. Select the preferred time and the appropriate number of reservations.
    • Add these reservations to your cart but do not finish the transaction.
    • Click the orange “Continue Shopping” link or the green “Tickets” button at the top of the page to proceed to the ticket calendar.
    • Navigate the calendar to November 2023 and select the “Daily Admission” button on November 24.
    • Select the preferred time and the appropriate number of tickets.
    • Confirm that the reservations and General Admission tickets are in your cart before finishing the transaction.

Join Nature Circle Time to immerse children in the outdoor world. A mixture of stories, songs, and movement allows children to explore nature through their sense and their imaginations to bloom. Adult supervision is required.

Each Circle Time will include one or two stories and a group activity such as a song, dance or game. Stories and activities are based on the monthly Learning Theme: April & May: April Showers Bring May Flowers, June: Backyard Bug Adventures, July: Red, White & Bloom!, August: Splish, Splash, Explore, September: Woodland Wonders.
