Glencore Canada joins forces with the Tour de l'Abitibi for a three-year partnership. The Tour de l'Abitibi, North America's only international junior bike race, will take place from July 10 to 16, 2023.
Deeply rooted in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, which is home to our Horne Smelter and an important link in our copper value chain, the Tour de l'Abitibi welcomes 150 riders annually in an intense competition and continues to be an excellent springboard for aspiring cyclists in the professional ranks.
Glencore Canada is proud of this new partnership, which is based on the company's core values of health and safety, as well as our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
"The health and safety of our employees is a top priority for Glencore. We believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle through sporting activities contributes to the spreading of these values. By supporting the development of a first-ever women's race in the coming years, we hope to make the event a symbol for the inclusion of women in non-traditional professions."
Stéphanie Lemieux - Regional Lead, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Community Relations for North America and Philippines Copper Operations
"Glencore is proud to contribute to the success of the 53rd edition of the Tour de l'Abitibi. The Tour de l'Abitibi is an event that brings together teams from all over the world, as do our activities in 35 countries. It's a nod to the global role of each and every one of our employees as they work to provide the metals the world needs to make the energy transition a success!"
Alexis Segal - Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs for Glencore Canada
