Support a Lesbian Couple Attacked By racist cops

Donation protected

On Saturday, we went out to celebrate the election and have a date night. The night was going amazing until we were on our way home and we were attacked by a gang of philly cops. While walking towards the train at 15th and Market, we passed a group of bike cops. We were talking and asked how could they live with themselves killing Black people everyday when a racist, white, Trump-supporting cop says “Bitch, you’re going to complain for four years and now you wanna complain some more”. We turn around and Kiera says “What, you pink pussy?” The cop immediately slaps Kiera extremely hard in the face, she pulled away and says “Don’t f—— touch me” in utter shock and fear. He then punches her in the face, after which they claim spit ended up on the officer. The cop punched her in the face a second time, then we were tackled and jumped by a gang of over 6 cops after they watched their officer viciously attack Kiera multiple times without provocation or recourse. They pulled our hair, punched us in the head and back, kicking us, and they then pulled Gianni up and sat her on the ledge leaving Kiera face down on the cement. The cop that made the disgusting, racist, comments and attacked her proceeded to pick her up by the back of her sweater and dropped her on her face. This was seen by numerous bystanders who were beyond disbelief and outrage, asking the cops why they were brutalizing Kiera. The cops then barricaded around them to try to hide the brutality because the public was aware and people were recording. The cops are claiming that all their body cameras were dead. Gianni was carrying a tote bag and the cops raided through it finding the takeout container of food, a book, a wallet, and her medical marijuana. During this time, Gianni was saying that the bag belonged to her but the cops would not let her claim her bag. The cops made sure to pin possession of marijuana charges, along with the unjust, made-up charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and endangering police officer etc on Kiera. All charges of disorderly conduct against Gianni were dropped. Kiera repeatedly asked for help for her mouth because the  cop lifted her up and slammed her on her face. Her chin hit the cement, in which her teeth cracked and were forced back, and her mouth was clearly bleeding along with other facial injuries. The officers ignored her and reluctantly let her go to the hospital after calling her a liar and saying she was making it up but when Gianni complained of head and back pain they immediately agreed to let her go to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor was very callous and was on the side of the police, he acted oblivious to the fact that there was dried blood around Kiera’s mouth, black eyes forming, a knot and scrape on her chin, her teeth cracked, chipped, and pushed back. The doctor performed a subpar examination although we both had symptoms of concussions and other traumas. It wasn’t until Gianni had said something to the doctor about Kiera’s teeth that he decided to halfway look over them. Throughout the night, Kiera was continually ignored and degraded while Gianni was treated halfway like a person. Kiera sat in jail for 14 hours while Gianni was released after 6 with all charges dropped. This brutality was completely unwarranted, unjust, and fucked up. The cops tried to justify their behavior and lied saying that we were protestors?????

Why do we have to be scared to exercise our first amendment right?  Asking a cop how they can live with themselves after killing innocent Black people, followed with another cop spouting Trump rhetoric then viciously attacking Kiera and jumping us.

We are seeking legal action as well as support through therapy, and dental/medical treatment for sustained injuries. This has empowered us to make sure the world sees what racist Trump supporting Philadelphia Police Department does to young Black and Rican couple. This cop and his gang brutalized my partner and I without any remorse on one of the busiest streets and night in Philadelphia. We are grateful this didn’t occur on an off street as we aren’t sure we would still have our lives. Our worlds have completely changed and we now live in fear more than ever. Please stand with us in demanding justice for not only us but everybody who looks like us and whose constitutional rights were impeded on, brutalized by the police, and locked up on ridiculous charges.
