Story
I am taking part in the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2024 to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
In February, we were given the news that nobody wants to hear - my mum had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. The NHS were amazing and were able to remove the Grade 3 tumour quickly, but unfortunately she now needs to undergo both chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the coming months as, with 90% of her cells splitting rapidly, it may have skipped her lymph nodes and spread into her bloodstream. Although she hasn’t had to have MacMillan support, it is amazing to know that this charity would be there should she need it, and we are so lucky that there is so much support available for both cancer patients and their families.
Something I have learnt from this journey so far is that it is so easy to feel powerless in these sorts of situations, but I know that I can make my small difference by doing this. I would like to raise money to help others who may need support in the future, or who may not be so fortunate to have strong support networks to help them get through such a tough period of their lives.
My mum has always been my biggest supporter, so I am ready to be hers.
Please consider donating to my JustGiving page - even small amounts make a difference and mean so much ❤️
