“Community. That’s a strange word on its own. The word’s not as warm as “family” but some people like myself, we don’t have family. But that’s okay, because we have each other...and that’s not nothing at all.” - William from This is Us (Gemma Creamer has me hooked on the series…) 🫶🏼We all need community. When I studied at law school I felt loved by my friends (who are family to me), but I felt disconnected to any sense of belonging to a community. That all changed 12 months ago when I made the decision to post publically on X (@CEPbarrister) and share about being care-experienced. I made a choice to put visibility for people like me over fear. Since then, not only have I created Lawyers Who Care, but I’ve met my people. Care-experienced people lift each other up and we light up a room different (as anyone at our launch would have seen). ⚖️One huge aim of Lawyers Who Care is to create a COMMUNITY of care-experienced aspiring lawyers, so we feel we belong in this profession (we do!). I want to share the love the care-experienced community has shown to me in the last 12 months with future generations of care-experienced aspiring lawyers. To show what we can become…especially if we support each other to grow. ⭐️The care-experienced young person of today can (and will) go on to be the change maker of tomorrow. ❤️You know who you are (list non-exhaustive) and I am grateful to YOU Luke Rodgers BEM Ric Diaghe Gemma Creamer Sophia Alexandra Hall Andy Smith Matt Smith Judith AM Denton LLB (Hons), CeMAP, Cert CII Chris Wild Ashley John-Baptiste Jerome Harvey-Agyei Annie Jin Lei Bell Shimron Walters Leah J.
