About us

Perkins Center for the Arts is recognized by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as a Major Presenting Organization and has received a Citation of Excellence, for arts programs that promote participation, understanding, and communication among diverse audiences. The Center presents free and fee-based arts programs which support and expand relationships with artists, students, members, donors and new audiences in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester Counties and the greater Delaware Valley region. Perkins Center was incorporated in 1977 and is housed in a historic 1910 Tudor home and carriage house. In 2002, the Center expanded to a second facility in Collingswood, NJ. The Center has developed strong community-based arts programs for the audiences we serve with a special focus in the city of Camden. Perkins Center's community-based programs are built on partnerships with organizations that have a complementary vision of the importance of the arts for individuals as well as the arts importance in the building of communities. Perkins Center strives to enrich lives and inspire learning, collaboration, interdisciplinary and intercultural experiences through the arts. We believe that quality arts experiences, made available to all members of society, have the power to transform people's lives and bring about positive change.

  • We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us last Saturday, May 11th, at our Collingswood location for an artist's reception! Together, we delved into the artistry of Dolores Poacelli at the exhibition "The Pandemic Diaries." We explored a unique collection of thought-provoking collages blending graphic design, satire, and personal reflection on a global scale. Dolores' innovative process of cutting out digital designs from painted paper revealed a tactile quality reminiscent of her abstract works. We also want to give a special shoutout to the Moore Brothers, Wegmans, and the State Council on the Arts for their generous support of Perkins' free programming. Your continued support and that of all our supporters mean the world to us. At Perkins, we remain dedicated to promoting South Jersey arts and providing free arts programming for all, including veterans, people with disabilities, and people of all ages. Please consider supporting Perkins today. #perkinscenter

  • We want to thank everyone who joined us last Saturday, May 11th, at our Collingswood location for an artist's reception! Together, we delved into the intersection of tradition and innovation at "Threaded: Contemporary Expressions of Traditional Fiber Arts," a dynamic multi-artist exhibition presented in collaboration by Perkins Center for the Arts Exhibitions Department, Folklife Center, and the Down Jersey Folklife Center of WheatonArts. We had the opportunity to celebrate how 14 incredibly talented artists and guilds re-imagined traditional techniques like weaving, embroidery, quilting, and crocheting for modern purposes, reflecting the diverse traditions of South Jersey in a contemporary light. A special shoutout goes to Moore Brothers, Wegmans, and the State Council on the Arts for their generous support of Perkins' free programming, and to all supporters like you. Your continued support means the world to us. Your support goes to community programming and events such as free concerts, artists' receptions, and free arts programming including for veterans, people with disabilities, and creative aging populations! Please consider supporting Perkins today. #perkinscenter
