šŸ“¢ TWO WEEKS NOTICE šŸ“¢ The American job market has experienced the most significant job loss numbers in over fifty years.Ā All told, over 38 million workers quit their jobs in 2021.Ā Many refer to it as the ā€œGreat Resignationā€ā€¦ but we prefer the term, theĀ Great Re-Evaluation ā€“ a time for workers toĀ reevaluate what they want for themselves, their futures, and their careers. Itā€™s also a time for employers to re-evaluate their policies and practices, and make changes to keep top talent! Ā  We asked our community to share their Great Re-Evaluation stories. All stories are anonymous. Ā  Ā  āž”ļø Why did you decide to quit your job? I kept hearing my inner voice say "If not now, when?" Ā  āž”ļø What was the last straw that made you decide it was time to move on? I had a conference call with my boss,Ā during which she was upset because I had missed two of her calls. It was a repeatedly stated rule that you had to pick up when she calledā€¦ no matter what. My own rule was that I didn't take my phone with me into the bathroom. I had missed two calls because, you guessed it, I was in the bathroom. In frustration,Ā I told her I didn't take calls while I was in the bathroom. She continued to push, stating that she wasn't sure I was being forthright about missing the calls due to my bathroom habits. Ā  āž”ļø How did you quit? It was amicable, but difficult. I had a team and a lot of responsibility. I gave 3 weeks notice, and offered my sincere gratitude for the experience. I did everything I could to make the transition as seamless as possible. Ā  āž”ļø How did your boss respond to your resignation? She was very surprised, but was understanding. She made it clear she didn't want me to leave,Ā but understood my decision. I didn't leave much of an opportunity for her to challenge it. Ā  āž”ļø Was there anything your company could have done to retain you? Nope. I was done. I was ready to jump into full-time entrepreneurship. There was nothing that could have kept me there.
