“If creators stop giving their content away for free then platforms like [Facebook, Instagram and] TikTok are bankrupt. Think about that … What’s different about Web 3.0? Ownership. Creators want to own the platform they create on and have voting rights. When the platform makes money so do they … Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, though, haven’t understood the shift. They make content creators work like slaves to build a following and get views that are controlled by an algorithm that can decide tomorrow it doesn’t like the color of your hoodie. They use that content to attract consumers and show them ads.” read on >>> https://lnkd.in/ggiz_Uyz #web3point0 #creatoreconomy #contentownership #creativeownership #socialmedia #socialplatforms

“…in a world of constant digital distraction, those able to master their productive focus will thrive. This is the simple premise of deep work – to regularly push your cognitive capacities to their limits. With huge consequences for employee productivity, happiness and adaptability, it’s been touted as the world’s ultimate job skill for good reason. The term ‘deep work’ was coined by Cal Newport, associate professor of computer science at Georgetown University and author of ‘Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World’, and the concept has been quickly adopted as a useful antidote for modern working practices saturated with unrewarding and unproductive distractions.” https://lnkd.in/eNs-Rmfc #cognitivecapacity #deepwork #calnewport

"The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and human agency raises profound questions about autonomy, control, and the evolving role of technology in our lives. As AI systems become more integrated into various aspects of society, the boundaries between human decision-making and technological determinism are increasingly blurred. This analysis delves into how these dynamics might evolve by 2035, drawing on expert opinions and academic research to offer a nuanced view of future scenarios." source: The Future of Human Agency in the AI Era Poonacha Machaiah | https://lnkd.in/e-3SQMNE #artificialintelligence #technology #humanity

"To thine own self repair, wait thou within the silence dim, and thou shalt find Him there." All the power and intelligence of the Universe is already within, waiting to be utilized. The Divine Spark must be fanned into a blaze of the living Fire of your own divinity. Self-reliance is the word to dwell on. Listen to your own voice; it will speak in terms that are unmistakable. Trust in your own self more than in all else. All great men have learned to do this. Every person, within his own soul, is in direct communication with the Infinite Understanding. When we depend on other people we are simply taking their light and trying to light our path with it. When we depend on ourselves we are depending on that inner voice that is God, speaking in and through man. excerpt: Creative Mind & Success Ernest Shurtleff Holmes https://a.co/d/0rVKeB1 #success #creativity #divinity #consciousness #books 1919 | 5522

One might think that these effects only occur when someone is overusing technology, social media in particular. But even regular use is detrimental to our mental health. Social media reinforces certain negative patterns by triggering the release of dopamine, a chemical in the brain that makes you feel good. The constant novelty and endless scrolling content create an addictive cycle of refreshing, much like someone in Las Vegas playing a slot machine. The unpredictability, coupled with social validation features, keeps you coming back. … Platforms and apps, like YouTube, often provide a feeling of community. When used for genuine connection, it can be a valuable tool. However, these platforms take advantage of our instinct to belong. Throughout human history, belonging to a group was necessary for our survival; our brains are wired to care what people think of us. When we receive social validation, the reward centers in our brain light up, triggering a release of more dopamine. Even the expectation of a positive reward releases more of that feel-good chemical which keeps us coming back during times of anxiety and stress. We become conditioned to seek regular and constant feedback with likes, comments, and shares. This creates a cycle of increased social media use and a decrease in mental health. These apps have been strategically designed to compel us to engage, based on our human instincts. These platforms, now even more powerful with artificial intelligence (AI), are created with the intention of maximizing our engagement and increasing their profit. https://lnkd.in/eGQdJT2k #attentioneconomy #extractivetechnology #mentalhealth

“Being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame is a dream come true,” he said of the achievement. “For an inventor, this is the best thing you can do.” For Smoot, the honor became even more profound when he realized the only other Disney employee to earn the same recognition was Walt Disney himself. “I got a lump in my throat,” he said. “I became a little emotional. I thought, ‘The weight of that is real, right?’” “I love to create. I love to come up with inventions … just wanting to make good things that will amaze and enchant people.” #historymakers #imagineering #creatives
Lanny Smoot has been an inventor for as long as he can remember. He told CNN one of his fondest childhood memories was the day his dad brought home a light, batteries, a bell and wire. “I probably was 5 or 6 years old, and he got the light to light up, the bell to ring – and the light from that memory has lit my entire life,” Smoot said. Smoot said the experiment sparked an immediate fascination with anything involving electricity and electronics. He would often spend time dismantling things, using the parts to make the unique creations he dreamed up. Now, more than 60 years later, Smoot says he hasn’t lost his passion for inventing. The Disney research fellow and imagineer has amassed 106 patents and counting, and his prolificacy and impact in the theatrical technologies and special effects field have earned him an induction into the 2024 National Inventors Hall of Fame. “Being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame is a dream come true,” he said of the achievement. “For an inventor, this is the best thing you can do.” Smoot’s inventions include the extendable lightsaber used in Disney Live Entertainment, the new HoloTile floor, which Disney calls “the world’s first multi-person, omni-directional, modular, expandable, treadmill floor,” and the interactive koi ponds at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

“Overall, self-actualization was related to higher levels of stability and the ability to protect your highest-level goals from disruption by distracting impulses and thoughts. Self-actualization was related to lower levels of disruptive impulsivity (“get out of control,” “am self-destructive”), nonconstructive thinking (“have a dark outlook on the future,” “often express doubts”), and a lack of authenticity and meaning (“feel that my list lacks direction,” “act or feel in a way that does not fit me”). Just as Maslow predicted, those with higher self-actualization scores were much more motivated by growth, exploration and love of humanity than by the fulfillment of deficiencies in basic needs. What's more, self-actualization scores were associated with multiple indicators of well-being, including greater life satisfaction, curiosity, self-acceptance, positive relationships, environmental mastery, personal growth, autonomy and purpose in life. There were also links to work performance and creativity—self-actualization predicted greater work satisfaction and work performance, as well as greater reports of talent, skill and creative ability across a wide range of fields from the arts and sciences to business and sports. Interestingly, there was a significant (but small) correlation between self-actualization and humor ability, which Maslow predicted would be the case (he often viewed humor ability as one of the defining characteristics of self-actualization). The relation between self-actualization and self-transcendence was also very interesting. I used a scale developed by David Yaden of Johns Hopkins University and his colleagues, which measures two aspects of self-transcendence: decreased self-salience and increased feelings of connectedness. Although self-actualization showed zero relation to decreased self-salience, it did show a strong positive correlation with increased feelings of oneness with the world. … Self-actualized people don't sacrifice their potentialities in the service of others; rather they use their full powers in the service of others (important distinction). You don't have to choose either self-actualization or self-transcendence—the combination of both is essential to living a full and meaningful existence.” #selfactualization #personalgrowth #consciousliving #creativity #wellbeing #transcendence

1yIn agreement, Christine. Tech companies make big money off us creators. If all your brand knowledge is being given away for free on You Tube, that is not a smart media strategy. Repurpose, repackage, and resell your most valuable offering behind a paywall on your WEBSITE. Just part of what I teach in developing a proper media strategy for your business brand.
