Collaborations between the worlds of finance and fashion are rare. The fact that our Corraterie headquarters in Geneva was chosen to feature on the front cover and in a 10-page fashion story for the Financial Times’ prestigious HTSI magazine was therefore a significant privilege, and marks another proud moment in the history of our Bank.

Our offices and the magical streets of Geneva’s old town made the ideal setting for the “Swiss banking style”-themed photoshoot in HTSI, which is published with the 2-3 March weekend edition of the FT and appears on its website. Paying homage to discreet tailoring, the extensive feature focusses on professional women’s fashion ahead of International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March.

One of the oldest private banks in the world, Lombard Odier received Napoleon Bonaparte and his officers as they returned from Italy in 1800 – and it’s still formidable

Our revered history also heads up the notable editor’s letter by Jo Ellison. “The most venerable star in this week’s issue is Lombard Odier, the global wealth and asset management group founded in Geneva in 1796,” she writes. “One of the oldest private banks in the world, it received Napoleon Bonaparte and his officers as they returned from Italy in 1800 – and it’s still formidable: the group had total client assets of CHF 308 billion (USD 350 billion) in June 2023.”

    Corraterie’s ornate craft details

Our design and historian colleagues collaborated with the FT on the photoshoot and on sharing key historical details to inform the storytelling and capture the essence of Geneva. Lombard Odier’s iconic fleuron features prominently in the photos, and Corraterie’s elevator and staircase co-star on the front cover.

The refined interior design details found throughout the building also garner a mention in Jo Ellison’s editor’s letter, where she outlines our long-standing Genevan roots and expertise.

“The Bank moved to its current premises on rue de la Corraterie in 1858, and several years ago I had the chance to visit and take part in a panel discussion about the state of luxury,” she writes. “Mostly, I was distracted by the building’s ornate craft details.”

    Swiss style epitomised

Our staff’s typical style when it comes to tailoring also draw a mention in the editor’s letter. “A dark tie and very sober suiting,” is how Jo Ellison describes it.

It is a pleasure seeing our establishment and the city of Geneva being brought to the forefront of a leading publication that caters to our clients and prospects

“Swiss banker style was a ‘thing’ this season, and where better to show it off than here?” she adds. “As the backdrop for a story about professional women’s fashion, Lombard Odier lends an austere majesty to the frame.”
