Q: How long have you been with MCG Jazz?

A: I joined the Jazz team in July 2021 – so a little bit over a year.

 

Q: Why did you join MCG Jazz?

A: After my very first visit to MCG Jazz, I left with the feeling of immense life, color, and possibility. It was an enigmatic feeling that I wanted to have a part in creating.

 

Q: What do you do at MCG Jazz?

A: I am the Patron Services Manager, meaning I am the go-to person for all ticketing and box office needs. Also, I coordinate with our social media and marketing department.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

A: To raise my soft palette when singing or to treat everyday like an audition.

 

Q: Do you have a mentor? If so, tell us about them.

A: My childhood voice teacher, Kathy Sawyer from Downtown Sounds in Butler, PA. She nurtured my experience as a young musician training in classical voice and fostered the beginning of my musical and arts administration career.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

A: Aside from working for an organization that presents world-class artists, I love having the opportunity to get to know our patrons first-hand. They are the reason we can do what we do, and I am lucky to be able to cultivate those relationships with them. As a public facing role in the organization, I love being able to learn about and develop relationships with our subscribers, members, and patrons.  

 

Q: Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.

A: I collect unique teapots and try to bring one back from each new location I travel to.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

A: When I am not working, I sing in the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and as a staff musician at East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Also, I spend a lot of time creating homemade projects like needlepoint cross stitch, crocheted apparel, polymer clay earrings, and paper and felt projects on my Cricut.

Q: What type of jazz is your favorite to listen to/play?

A: I love vocal jazz.

 

Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at MCG Jazz?

A: After a year working at MCG Jazz, I am still surprised by the community within and surrounding the organization. Everyone within MCG Jazz is connected by our passion for collaboration. Outside of that, the community of artists and supporters that MCG Jazz reaches always impresses on me the grandeur that our organization possesses.​
