Released in May of last year, ‘Shortline’ is a raw and electrifying rock tune from Chicago-based three-piece Canning. Consisting of Ricky Canning, Fritz Armstrong, and Tom Miller, the band have been members of the Chicago rock scene ever since high school. With a vision of staying true to its roots of authenticity, diversity, and individuality, Canning produces music that is real, heartfelt, and full of substance.
‘Shortline’ sees the band getting a little bluesier than normal, though always maintaining that classic rock ‘n’ roll edge. It’s dirty and gritty in the best possible way, with Ricky’s incredible vocal performance stealing the show. A three-minute sonic rollercoaster of epic proportions, ‘Shortline’ speaks lyrically of searching for strength in oneself as well as others.
Inspired by a wide variety of acts like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, and even Björk, it’s no wonder that Canning is able to produce a distinctive sound of their own.
