Plant lovers and coffee lovers, this one’s for you.

Mountain View-based flower, plant and coffee shop Bloomsgiving is soft opening a second location in Redwood City this weekend. Noticing many of her customers would drive south from San Mateo County for her bouquets, succulents and lattes, owner Jessica Han decided it was time to add a second location up north – but not too far from her home in Mountain View.

Han has lived in Mountain View for the last four years, but her connection to the city goes back over 10 years – when she graduated college with a degree in environmental science and took a job at 23andMe. She said she always loved flowers and plants, selling succulents at pop-ups, arranging flowers for weddings and birthdays and even hosting team building events.

“It did take almost a decade for me to be like, ‘Maybe I can actually do this full time,’” she said.

In addition to selling flowers, plants, coffee and tea at Bloomsgiving, Han also sells crochet figurines handmade by her friend and mother.

The grand opening of the Redwood City location at 893 Winslow St., just a six minute walk away from plant cafe Little Green A Plant Bar, is planned for Feb. 17, and the tentative operating hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday, she said. The new location will be very similar to the original in Mountain View but with extra indoor seating and tables.

“We’re going to have this cool middle section where it’s kind of like a squiggly seating with some tables and plants around it,” Han said.

Bloomsgiving’s coffee drinks are made from San Jose-based Academic Coffee Company coffee beans.

“We wanted to go with one that’s local,” Han said, “and then we found Academic, and when we met with them, we just connected.”

The drinks menu includes classic coffee shop finds like cortados, macchiatos and cappuccinos, but also includes more unique offerings like lavender lattes, rose lattes, rose matcha lattes and Bloomsgiving espresso tonics, which feature orange and rose.

“We just experiment with different flavors,” Han said. “I wanted rose and lavender because it fits the whole floral theme.”
