From the very first meeting with our Morgan Creek clients, it was clear that the biggest challenge would be to design a contemporary home that suited the different tastes of both the husband and wife. During one of the first meetings with these clients, we discussed their dreams, a wish list, and agreed it was equally important to keep the husband’s distinct taste in mind while selecting finishes and making design decisions. We began with an inspiration meeting to determine the style direction of the project and gather exciting ideas to get the project underway.

We began by updating the colours throughout, including the layout, finishes and lighting to better suit our clients taste and needs.  The kitchen was completely gutted to allow for a stunning new millwork package complete with built-in custom storage units and gorgeous quartz countertops. For the kitchen we began by selecting a colour palette of various, soft earthy greys accented by a dramatic dark grey island. The design of the kitchen is contemporary and sleek, yet warm and comfortable. The oversized, simple island pendants are a show stopping addition to the space and really make the whole  space sparkle. In order to keep the focus on the oversized light fixtures, we opted to keep the backsplash pattern to a minimum. Instead we opted to run the  quartz countertop up the wall. In doing this, it created a simple, streamlined look that allowed the lighting to take centre stage. The counter stools are a dark grey upholstered linen, super comfortable and perfect for entertaining  guests around the island while the host cooks. We added soft warm brass fixtures that add just a perfect touch of glam without feeling too on trend.  The paint palette and furniture selections are a combination of soft, earthy tones that are perfectly suited to the style and colour palette of the furniture and fixtures throughout the home. We layered in colourful and textured wallpaper in key areas to add a touch of detail and interest.  The end result is a truly stunning transitional home that envelopes you with comfortable elegance from the moment you enter. This home proves that it really is possible to successfully marry two styles to create one gorgeous, cohesive look that feels warm and inviting but will stand the test of time for  many years to come.

“Lindsay was successfully able to help marry our two styles during our whole home renovation. We needed help with everything including paint, floor, millwork design, lighting and tiles throughout including new floor plans and furniture selection. She was great to work with, always so flexible and the results were more than we could have expected! We are enjoying the spaces as the home has incorporated both of our styles and has a consistent look throughout. We will be working on the outdoor space next year and plan to ask Lindsay!”
