November is that magical month when the fall season meets the holiday season, the festive time between Halloween and Thanksgiving Weekend… which means there’s a ton going on in Philadelphia.

Some of the city’s can’t-miss November events include the AACR Philadelphia Marathon (one of the most historic races in the nation), high-profile concerts (including Tool, Lil Uzi Vert and The 1975 — separately — at Wells Fargo Center), and high-end performing arts venues kicking off runs of Wicked at the Academy of Music and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Walnut Street Theater.

November sees two cultural film festivals return to Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Jewish Film + Media Fall Fest and the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, not to mention big games hosted by the Eagles, Flyers and 76ers at the South Philly Sports Complex.

Veterans Day weekend (November 10 – 12, 2023) offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy a three-day stay in Philly while the city’s military history is on display during Siege Weekend at historic Fort Mifflin and heroes are honored at the Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival.

Speaking of parades, the 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade returns to kick off the holidays with hundreds of performers and dozens of giant floats (and Santa, of course) making their way past crowds along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

And get your holiday festivities rolling with can’t-miss celebrations like LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo, the Grand Illumination Celebration at Peddler’s Village and A Longwood Christmas at Longwood Gardens.

Extend the fun by booking the Visit Philly Overnight Package and score great perks (like tickets to The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and more), free hotel parking (valued up to $100) and a bed you don’t have to make. Want to make a weekend out of it? The Visit Philly 3-Day Stay package is a straightforward steal: Buy two nights and get your third night for free.

Read on for the top things to do in Philadelphia in November 2023.

Fall is the best time of year in the greatest sports city in America. The Phillies are hot off another long postseason run, the Eagles are building up playoff momentum yet again (“Go Birds”) and new seasons of Flyers hockey, 76ers hoops and Big 5 college basketball are just beginning. Here are a few of the biggest matchups to watch for:

  • Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field: Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Jason Kelce and the defending NFC Champion Eagles begin their playoff push with two critical late afternoon games at The Linc against the bitter division rival Dallas Cowboys (November 5, 2023) and superstar QB Josh Allen and the always-tough Buffalo Bills (November 26, 2023).
  • Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center: It’s a new era of orange as the NHL’s Flyers get into the heart of the season with several big home tilts including versus the Los Angeles Kings (November 4, 2023) and Stanley Cup champ Vegas Golden Knights (November 18, 2023), and key division matchups with the Columbus Blue Jackets (November 19, 2023), the New York Rangers (November 24, 2023), Carolina Hurricanes (November 28, 2023) and New Jersey Devils (November 30, 2023).
  • Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center: It’s a big month at the Wells Fargo Center for the 76ers including two rivalry games against the Boston Celtics (November 8 & 15, 2023) and a cross-conference meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers (November 27, 2023). November also sees the kickoff for group play in the NBA’s first-ever in-season tournament with home dates against the Indiana Pacers (November 14, 2023) and Cleveland Cavaliers (November 21, 2023).
  • Big 5 College Basketball Opening Games: There’s nothing like Philly Big Five college basketball — marking its first season in 70 years with a sixth team in 2023 — and kicking off with season openers on Monday, November 6, 2023 for Temple (vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore at Liacouras Center), Villanova (vs. American at The Pavilion), Penn (vs. John Jay at The Palestra) and St. Joseph’s (vs. Lafayette at Hagan Arena).
