Gifts From Crows is the project of neoclassical composer Richard Laurence, and has been frequently featured on our blog, most recently in the Spring through his piece A Resolution. Since then, he’s been putting together a new album Etudes Of The Crow, from which he has released his latest single A Persistent Dream.

Each of the tracks on Etudes Of The Crow have been recorded in three different ways – a solo piano version, an orchestral arrangement and an ambient/electronic mix. It’s the ambient mix of A Persistent Dream we get here, blending classical and modern instrumentals in a way that only Richard can.

For his latest project, Richard has teamed up with Swedish photographer Johanna Ronn, taking inspiration from her work. Each track is accompanied by a self-portrait, and I found the one for A Persistent Dream, as featured above, particularly striking. It sets the scene well for the track, which you can hear below.
