Yena Choi commenced her violin training at the age of three and has never looked back. She is classically-trained with many years of practical study as well as academia under her belt. She has worked professionally with the major Australian orchestras, London's Royal Opera House Orchestra, Academy of St Martin In The Fields, and BBC Concert Orchestra. Yena currently plays on a 1690 Tononi violin as well as an electric violin, both of which have taken her around the world from Sydney Opera House to London's Royal Albert Hall. She has previously performed for three Australian Prime Ministers, the Dalai Lama’s family, US President Barack Obama, the British ambassador to Hong Kong, the US ambassador to Sweden, and in 2021 two of her original recordings were taken into space on Blue Origin Mission NS-18.
Yena's versatility and expertise outside the classical realm has led her to collaborate with touring artists such as Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Hans Zimmer, Michael Buble, Rufus Du Sol, Hugh Jackman, Rita Ora, and Kygo. A regular performer for high fashion events, she has performed for three consecutive years at Australian Fashion Week and has performed for international clients such as Chanel, Dior, Bulgari, Cartier, Hermes, Tiffany & Co, Aquazurra, and Armani. She has also performed for a variety of corporate clients such as Newscorp, Riva Yachts, Sony, Moet & Chandon, Ruinart, La Prairie, L'Oreal, Puig, HBO, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG, Citibank, Accenture, Emirates, Qantas, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, and Range Rover to name a few.
On a global scale Yena appears in feature performances on The Ellen Show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Amazon Music UK, and within Australia is a regular session musician on programmes such as Australian Idol, The Morning Show, Sunrise, The Today Show, Fox TV, Triple J's Like A Version, The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, The Logie Awards, and The ARIAS. Recently Yena performed in the hit-musical Hamilton.
With a keen interest in social outreach, Yena performs regularly for retirement homes, has given educational workshops to youth in regional Indigenous communities, has played at the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation's Silver and Gold Charity Dinners, and performs annually for The Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation Gala to raise funds for Australian wildlife rehabilitation.
