I'm Michelle; I own and operate Coloring Your Own. You may have seen me at art fairs or Christmas pop-up shows all over the midwest, but maybe you found me from one of my reels or tiktoks!

I am SO GLAD you're here!

I started this brand as a retrospective healing journey for my adolescent self, or what my adolescent self would have wanted growing up. There was never any school class that I excelled at. No subject felt easy to me except for art class.

In middle school, I had art class once a week. So I felt like excelling at art wasn't meaningful or valuable. It was like excelling at breathing. Good job. You can inhale and exhale. After all, math happened every single day. EVERY DAY. Therefore math has to be more important than art and I wasn't good at math (I wasn't bad; I just wasn't good). I was good at something unimportant. Congratulations.

I would count down to art class on Thursday afternoon every week. And when it finally arrived - it was done in the blink of an eye only to start the one-week countdown all over again.

Coloring Your Own, to me, is a way to sneak art class into other classes. Into the between class times. Into the folds of life where waiting happens. That's why it takes a bit of time to fill out my products. That's why I lean heavily on an already existing product that many households already have (Sharpies).

Coloring Your Own is a love letter to myself. I know there are currently kids in school like me and I know there are current adults who went into business fields like finance for sensible reasons like mortgage payments and heat bills.
